I felt another fist hit me squarely in the jaw, and I fell into the dirt, dropping my science textbook. The bullies loomed above me, grinning. I felt a sharp kick on the back of the head, and became dazed. Several more kicks.
"Leave him alone!" I saw Rotan Abirsh, my best and only friend, shove the gang leader. The sneer dropped off his face and he swung a fist at her, but she deflected it.
"What's he ever done to you?"
"Well, it's more the fact he exists, if you know what I mean."
"Tan, thit's okay...Ti'm f-fine..." Blood poured into my mouth from my nose.
"Shut up!" Thwack! Rotan hit him in the nose. Within seconds, they were fighting, and I couldn't see straight. Finally, they stopped.
"Leave him alone!"
"Enlighten me when you find something worthwhile it that piece of crap." His gang followed him away, admiring his broken hand. Rotan knelt down and picked up my bookbag and scattered possions, replaceing them inside the bag, and slinging it over her own shoulder.
"You okay, Trey?" I nodded slowly. Rotan half carried me home, where I was greeted by a furious mother and a father full of pity.
"Reginald! You haven't been fighting again!?"
"Let him off, Alicia, he can barely stand."
"And you!" She pointed at Rotan, ignoreing my father. "You helped! I know you did, didn't you!? You know Reginald can't fight, why do you insist on bringing him!?"
"Mother, n-no!"
"I DON'T TAKE HIM TO FIGHTS! OTHER PEOPLE PICK THEM! GET OFF OUR CASES, TREY AND I-"
"Trey and I?! You don't even know his name!?"
"No, mother, i-it's a nickname! C-calm down, I-I'm not hurt!"
Eventully things calmed down, and 45 minutes later we were sitting in my room.
"So anyways, Colin got mad at me for being in his room, but not not for finding them." Talking about totally unimportant things, as thirteen year olds are wont to do.
"Heh. I-I've got e-engineering maginizes stashed away." Rotan stared at me.
"Okay, even for you, that's a new level of pathetic, Trey."
