Well a yesterday I found a female red fox kit next to my house and it is about 3 days old. I need some names since iv taken on the task of raising it. The ideas so far are: Rem, Rin, Lucy, Seras, Lilium, Intregra, Victoria, Viri, Maka, Kitsune, Lillie, Cleopatra, and Amber
I would also like your idea's
I was correct and it was a kit. Well, double trouble. Theres two more. A male and female so im looking for more names. The female names are in the beggining so heres the male names: Vlad, Alucard, Chance, Zak, Auron, and Viroshi.
Its kinda cute how I found them. My dog, Lex, newest member of my K9 family is a 87 pound pit bull. So he had begun whining again like he did when the first kit was found. So I decided to wait an hour before letting him out and following. He dashed away and I lost his trail. Two hours later I find him curled around these two tiny bundles licking them and keeping them warm. When he finally noticed me sitting across from him he picked one up, trotted over and dropped the tiny wet bundle in my lap then the second one. Cutest thing I ever seen.
Lex is a rescue who was in a dog fighting ring so this I hadnt really expected but I trusted him enough to let him find the others. This just shows how some food and lots of love can bring gentle feeling from this beast of a dog. Iv had him for a year and im thinking about getting another pit because of him.
I'd like it if you voted so I would know. But im also asking family and friends so keep that in mind.
Unless you have a Class III Wildlife Permit (or equivalent for your legal jurisdiction), it is illegal to own foxes. You should contact the appropriate authorities to handle the foxes. If the foxes were abandoned by the mother, they may be raised by a trained caregiver and released in to wild or placed into a wildlife sanctuary.
We used to have 4 legally-owned foxes. They are a great deal of work, especially as they get older. They may look like dogs, but they are wild animals that need open space to thrive. We donated the foxes to a zoo called "Noah's Ark" in the Atlanta, GA, area, after having them for about a year.
Hullbreach, I understand your concern but I'v dealt with things much bigger than foxes because im class 2, and 4 of my uncles are class 1 and they run a big cat sancuary, If these kits dont like me i'll take them to Michel or John seeing they love foxes.
I am well aware. Iv helped my uncles for years and he convinced me last year to get a permit. Iv taken care of bob cats with my permit. I usally take care of tigers, jaguars, and cheetah thanks to my uncles. When they didnt have time I move into the reserve as a volunteer and raise them in my own little quarters. Bob cats and panthers are what I often see though. Sadly iv seen more of my fair share with them missing fangs and claws because the owners yanked them out.
If you get a permit higher try an Ocelot. I have 2 of them around here. Im working on getting a class I permit. But my ocelots are pretty neat. They are missing their claws because of the family who decided to get them and when my rescue came they gave them to me since they were still babies. They are like a house cat but I do let them roam as long as they stay within 15 miles, thats where tags come in. If I keep them inside to long im in for a long night. I have a outdoor cat inclosure on my back porch for this if they get restless in the night. Any of my hybrids or kits who get restless go in here. I have a savanah right now and she loves her pen. If you want a big cat thats not exactly wild get a Savanah or Bengal.
