Hey there, overlords/blogmins/users/guests of DSi/3DS/GamePad Paint/Wii Opera SDK. Hatenagain is progressing now it has solid hosting, thanks to Robdeprop, creator of Flipnote Reborn and 3DSPlaza. Oh, did I mention Hatenagain has merged with Flipnote Reborn? Yes, and Hatenagain is now using its name. Expect a private beta soon (read: hopefully in August); post a comment here if you want to be a part of it. In other news, both Hatena and Nintendo are keeping tight-lipped about the Flipnote Studio format specifications; it's a good thing I did some digging before it closed down. Progress has been made with .ugo decoding; strings are encoded using UTF-16LE, which is then encoded in base 64. Good for us that both are standardized, then. Well done Nintendo & Hatena for making their formats decodable. I admit, though, it took some time to work out the null byte after every UTF-8 character was actually used for UTF-16, but meh. I'm considerting making the Flipnote format specs open source, along with parts of Flipnote Reborn, under the LGPL (because not everyone wants to release their source code). Finally, I have an idea: Flipnote Free-D. Yup, Flipnote Reborn on the 3DS. For free. 'Nuff said. So, thanks for reading this, so byeeeee!

I think that some of the famous Flipnote creators are done with flipnotes. Some of them were on in 2009, and have gotten older. I know in the last day I saw a farewell note from someone famous on Hatena, that said that they were done.

Not trying to be rude or anything, please forgive me if I seem like that, but.

Why make another Flipnote Hatena when 1) Flipnote Studio 3D is coming out in around a month, 2) Flipnote Hatena had a fairly crappy community, 3) 'Flipnote Reborn/Hatenagain' is on a browser and won't support anything close to what Flipnote Studio had?

This is not directed at anyone in particular; just the people trying to make a 'new' Hatena. I don't oppose either of these since I haven't really tried them, I'm just curious.

But what about 'Flipnote Free-D'?

From what I see, it's basically the same thing as Flipnote Studio 3D. It's free, it has an online community.

Nintendo is already making these.

No, Flipnote Gallery Friends is free, Gallery World will cost money, which is what Free-D will replace.

It's actually a good thing World costs money.

Hatena had a crappy community. Half of it were 9 year old supernoobs who posted Flipnotes like "CAN I SING?", "GIV MI STRS", "I M QUITNG BECUZ MI FRST FLPNTE DIDNT GIT 67649 STRS", stuff like that. They posted comments like "DIS FLPNOTE SUX MI FLPNOTE THT TUK MI 2 MIN 2 MAEK IS MUCH BETTR" and such. They completely RUINED the Hatena community.

By making World cost money, less noobs like that have access to it. Those who do will have to make good Flipnotes to save money, which eliminates more.

This makes room for ACTUAL animators, people like BosS, Scribbler, Anthony, and more.

By making a free online community for it, you're essentially creating a noob-breeding ground. That just messes up Flipnote Studio 3D.
