The bus doors opened slowly and menacingly. The final stop of the trip is a dark and gloomy place. On the edge of Woodcrack, evil and deranged men leave in secrecy. The streets are flooded with criminals. Todd takes one small step off the bus.
The bus speeds off making an illegal u-turn. Todd is scared to near death until he sees a poor blind man. The man tells Todd about his sad cruel fate. He begs for money to buy a bus token. Todd opens his wallet with his remaining money. The man steals the wallet apparently faking his disability.
Todd walks up to a group of kids standing outside an apartment building. The kids circle Todd and ask him, "What are you doing here?". Todd explains he is searching for his copy of Earthbound. The kids notice he isn't from around here. They plead and beg that Todd helps them into their apartment. The kids explain that their parents accidentally locked him out.
Todd notices there are five guys and the apartment is rather small with numerous rooms. Todd questions who's apartment is it. The leader of the group speaks out and says it's his home.
The leader shows Todd the way up the fire escape to "his" room. Once inside, Todd would open the door and let them in. He explains that he doesn't want to be the one to break the window or his parents would ground him. Todd understands and climbs up the ladder.
Todd is now on the platform with the room. Todd uses his trusty yo-yo and breaks the window. He hears the kids from the inside screaming move faster. Todd runs to the door and opens it. The five hoodlums burst in and pocket as much as they can. Todd realizes he help them break in. Todd begins to fight off the hoodlums. Todd uses his yo-yo to hit the leader in the jaw. The five delinquents charge Todd until he could barely make his way out.
Hearing police sirens, the five boys leave the apartment by the south side stairs. The police catch Todd dazed in the room. The police take in Todd.
In jail, the officer tells Todd his rights. The police officer is nervous because of reports involving youngsters stealing. The policeman talks to his chief on how to convict the prime suspect. He begins asking Todd where is he from.
Todd tries to explain he is from Kings Parkway in Woodcrack. The chief tells the newbie that there is no way he is telling the truth. He continues saying, "Why would a kid from King Parkway be in the outer edge of Woodcrack?".
After hours of questioning, the policeman receives word that Todd was the one who broke in from the window. The cop is pressure to discipline the criminal. Since Woodcrack does not have a juvenile delinquent center, cops are taught to physical punishment. The cop strikes Todd with a nightstick and sends him on his way.
Todd is now in an unfamiliar location without anything, even his lucky yo-yo is gone.
