So i was on Youtube last night. I was bored so i put in "virtual reality". after looking through there i was inspired into research. This is what i found:
Occulous Rift
The occulous rift is perhaps the best possible PC-based VR helm out there. It just straps around your head. The thing that makes it different, is the two 920x1080 screens, rather than one large one. this gives you depth perception and games like skyrim which require jumping look great. The best part is; its easy to set up for any pc game.
Currently the occulous is in development and is apparantly not a consumer product. But you can still buy the occulous and the development kit if you dont mind getting the games to work.
Sony
i also found that sony is releasing something similar to the occulous rift. But this time for Ps4. Imagine running around in battefield four.
Speaking of battlefeild..
A company is releasing a platform that uses the occulous rift, not only letting you look around with your body, but walk too!
It will also include a gun for main use with battlefield and COD.
How it works: The shoes it comes with have small wheels in them, and platform is a solid plastic bowl with grooves in the sides.
When you step down, the wheels lock into the grooves so you dont move side to side. When you start walking, then the wheels turn and act as if your pressing the key assigned to "walk forward".
It also has a big adjustable ring that goes around your hips so you dont fall down.
The best part: this too is compatible with any pc game that uses a keyboard and mouse!
Walking around in skyim, minecraft, battlefield, has to be a seller.
Not to mention excersise! Imagine instead of a treadmill, you take your daily run on this, in skyrim! They have even annouced this as possible!
I know what you're thinking. "my body is ready." but, there are some downsides. The occulous rift is over three hundred dollars to buy. The VR platform has no moving parts, making in very inexpensive, but as far as i can tell its not been released yet. Even so it will probably be around one-hundred dollars. So if you were to start from scratch, and get to skyrim, meaning buying the occulous rift, skyrim, a fast gaming computer that can play it, and the platform... you're probably up to six or seven hundred dollars. But we poor people can still dream right?
I will be doing more articles on VR. So check back for my theories on mind-based VR, my theories on flux-sensor gloves,
and of course how some lonely japanese guy went on a date with hatsune miku in the park.
