Yeah, you read it correctly. That doesn't mean I'm suicidal or anything though... just keep reading.
I have to admit, life is AMAZING. Too amazing. Think about it, nobody wants to die. Why is that? They don't want to leave the people and things they love. They don't want to see their amazing lives slip out of their hands. They meet all these unique people and encounter many happy situations, and when it's time to end life, they don't want to step away from the happiness. Because life is so amazing, it's hard to end it. I understand that.
I'd rather just not have life at all. I don't want to leave my family and friends. Once you enter the world, you can't go back. And in the end, you don't have a choice. All the love and knowledge that you have now will be wasted because there'll eventually be a day when you'll be nothing but bones under a layer of dirt.
So, why do we even go through life? Why do we learn? Why do we love? Why do we hate? Why, if we're only going to see it all go?
Very common question. A selfish question, but common and understandable.
If you'd like a bit more meaning to your amazing life, here's something for you.
Life isn't all about you. Sure, it's a shame that all that you know and love will be gone. But all that you work for isn't for nothing.
Our purpose for learning, loving, and hating, is for the future.
You can enjoy everything that you do because of the fact that you were born. Your parents have worked hard, your teachers have worked hard, and (most of) the entire past generation have worked themselves to the bone to make the world nice and ready for you, once you've entered it. It's been like that for generations.
An idea not too many people understand, and an idea that even fewer people seem to recognize by the day.
Why should we care about our schools and education? Why should we care about our environment? Why should we care about war or peace, wealth or poverty, health or disease, life or death?
After you've been blessed to enjoy your life as nice as you did, would you just take that and say "K, thanks for the sweet life, see you in Hell"?
Future generations deserve to enjoy their lives as much as you have. Do you think everyone in the world has enjoyed their lives as much as you?
Some people have had to work hard just to be alive. They don't have time to think "What will become of all this when I die?", they're too busy making sure they can make it day to day.
It's not only on the small scale of one or two people that might have miserable lives.
Entire generations might have to make-do with less than we have, due to our selfishness.
We cut down forests for our development without caring for its impact on the planet. We wage war without any thought of how it'll effect our future relations. We rush through our lives, enjoying all of the world's pleasures we've been blessed with, without ever thinking about what we can do in return for the world.
Selfish, short-term thinking seems to have spread like AIDS in modern civilization.
People are looking to profit off of everything, take everything, use everything. But if everyone takes to enjoy their life without ever giving, soon, there will be a generation of people that will have nothing else to take.
So why? Why do we go through life, if all that we'll love will be gone once we die? What's the point of it all?
The point is to enjoy it, but also to give back what you've taken, so that the next person that steps in when you leave can enjoy life the same way you can.
Plant a tree. Adopt a dog. Do something productive or creative so that the world is a better place once you're gone.
Hell, you only got to post this blog because of the internet, which you've been given.
But even now there are filthy, greedy hands grabbing at it, trying to profit from it, trying to monopolize it.
You could join the net neutrality protests. Give back so that the next kid that enjoys life can post a similar blog about their great life on the free internet.
I hope you enjoyed this nice essay here. Not trying to talk down to you or criticise you or anything, just something for you to think about. If you love and enjoy your life so much, it's only right to spread the love around, right?
Here's something inspirational for you. Try to do a good deed everyday. Doesn't have to be ending world hunger or solving the national debt.
Do a good deed, every single day.
AND THEN. That's not all.
For every good deed that someone does to you, you have to do three more.
Imagine if everyone did that. Did three good deeds for every good deed done to them. Those people having the good deed done to them would have to do three more, and so on. It would certainly make the world a happier place, right?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts... I never thought about that, really. It's nice to take someone else's thoughts into consideration. Although I still don't understand the point of life.
I get that we do things for the future now that you mention it. What's the point of our lives? Suppose the answer to that is to make things better for future generations. So what's the point of future generations coming around? What's the point of anyone living at all? Why, just why does everything happen? I'll probably never get answers to these questions.
I agree, it'd be wonderful if the world did kind deeds for each other. Same for other things, if everyone was aware about stopping wars and environmental issues. But the world isn't perfect, there's always going to be someone out there who cares about money more than trees. I bet the world's known about environmental issues for years, so how long will it take for us all to fully stop these issues?
