This has to be one of my favorite games, hands down.
OFF is a indie game developed in RPG Maker, quite like Ib (which I have yet to watch/play). You are the puppeteer of a man called the Batter, and he has a sacred mission to fulfill. He requires your help to get him through to the end.
In this dark RPG, you must "purify" specters that confront you as well as the guardians who govern the zones. Progression in the game consists mainly of problem solving, some of which requires you to remember codes and whatnot.
There are five zones, zone 0, zone 1, zone 2, zone 3, and The Room. You are required to play through the zones in order, purifying the land as you go.
Along the way you'll meet:
The Judge: A cat with a large vocabulary and many helpful hints. He resides in zone 0.
Zacharie: Your everyday video game merchant, here to stock you up with various items and gear. You first meet him in zone 1.
Add-ons: You will be joined by three Add-ons along the course of your journey, Alpha, Omega, and Epsilon. They are all helpful in their own ways.
And many more strange characters.
The overall plot line (as it develops) will hook you almost immediately, the game begging to be played over and over (I should know- I'm on my third playthrough.) and loved every time.
I'd label this game E10+/T for cartoon violence and language (The zone 1 guardian has a language issue, keep in mind. That's just about as bad as it gets.) and rate it 5/5 stars because WOAH THIS GAME IS AWESOME.
