So I had an... unusual Christmas eve. It started with me waking up, and I immediately began making a cake for my girlfriend. I made a two Layer chocolate cake with chocolate icing. And then I Delivered it to her. Now, the roads here are slippery, even with our mild weather. Thankfully, I made it there safely. It was on the way back that I ran into trouble... or rather, I drove into it.
for some reason, the image loaded sideways. Anyways, there were three people involved in this collision: me, the woman who was driving the truck, and... a young boy, her passenger. Everyone is alive and uninjured, but that doesn't always happen. People die in vehicle accidents. It happens every day. And it could have been that little boy. His future could have been gone in an instant. I might have killed him. How many people would be able to live, knowing that they ended the life of a child? Not me. Probably not you. And maybe it was luck, or maybe a higher power intervened, but that was the absolute best case scenario that could have happened that day. And it was all avoidable.
I was daydreaming or something; I had just given a homemade cake to my girlfriend, and she loved it. I wasn't paying as much attention as anyone who is driving should be. So to all of you who can, or will be able to, drive, please do it safely! If not for yourself, then for the lives you might be saving.
This may seem like an awful Christmas, but it was probably the best one ever. Because the boy was not injured. Nobody was, and for that I will always be thankful.
