We've been told that it's an RPG. An RTS. A Sandbox. An Adventure. We'll be imagining ourselves as someone else. Trying to out-think others. We'll be creating things, and wandering round other parts of this digital Creation. We will need to fight. To explore. To gather resources and trade them for new things. To complete missions along the way. All these things we've been told, or can easily look up.
But...
What do we really know about this mysterious game?
Let's start off this blog series with what the Locations depicted and named on HullBreachUncloaked.com could mean for gameplay.
So far, four location names are known for sure, and two of them have images. These locations are the following: The Mining Colony, the Spacedock, the Spacestation, and the Terraforming Outpost. Now, is it just me, or do these all sound like the kind of thing that would be useful to be able to make and use for yourself? They're far too small to be ultra-important, pre-existing locations that the entire game is centered around.
I, for one, think that you as the player use a combination of gathered resources and money earned by completing Missions to build these Locations. Expanding on that, the Mining Colony would probably, well, mine. The Spacedock would give you a place to repair your ship in between planets. The Spacestation would give you a place to rest, possibly renewing Energy or something similar, allowing to to preform more Actions, should those concepts exist. And the Terraforming Outpost. Now, this is an important one. Why would you need a planet to be made habitable unless you had people who wanted to live there.
Passengers.
Another aspect of this game will be moving and caring for these passengers. One of the upgrades that is going to be available for your ships is called an "Inertial Dampener". Basically, it dampens resistence to steering and thrust, reducing vibration and making for a smoother ride. ...at least, that's my interpretation. Anyways, why would you need that unless A: you would be required to carry passengers, and B: they cared about the quality of your driving? Maybe if you drive really well and land or dock gently, they'll tip you, or give useful rumors or advice. Or if you really mess up your driving, they'll get really angry and kill you, driving your ship themselves.
After all, if you're bad enough at piloting to do this, they're probably better. Even if they don't know how to drive a ship.
