So. I was alone in a chatroom and it made me think, "Hey! I should write a blog!" So here's a blog. No planning went in. Just a quickly thought up topic.
Video game graphics:
So. I was watching youtube in the hotel earlier and a commercial came on for Star Wars: Battlefront. Damn did that game look beautiful. If it hadn't told me it was a game, I would've thought it was a movie trailer. The graphics looked amazing. That got me thinking, what other games made me seem like that? I remember the demo for F1 2012 and the first time I actually got into the gameplay. I didn't begin for at least 2 minutes because I was looking at the BEAUTIFUL graphics in that game. It looks clear and crisp and the reflections are so perfect and.., I keep fangirling over it. It's amazing. But games can also be made to look just as beautiful as that one did. In Skyrim (PC version,) you can get mods to make it look absolutely beautiful. They make it look super realistic and, like the star wars game trailer, when I saw a picture of it, I diddn't know it was real until I was told it was Skyrim, and even then I didn't believe it was. Even games that you don't think can be beautiful can be. Minecraft is a prime example. Shaders can be implimented into the game to make it absolutely stunning. With shades, clear water, beautiful lighting effects, it makes a normally somewhat good looking game into a beautiful game. To wrap things up, all I'll say is that as technology grows, so does the quality of graphics in games.
Games are getting to that point where they look about 97% realistic. That 3% is what our eyes immediately notice because something's not "quite right" with it. Movies were that way about 15 years ago, if you remember The Matrix: Reloaded and its plastic-fest of Neo vs. all the Agent Smiths, but movies look so realistic now. Games should get to that point in a few decades, assuming they can still be profitable. Imagine Mario Kart 12 being so realistic that when Luigi passes you with his death stare, you will be able to see his nose hairs! I can't wait!

Like when the characters get too close to the screen you start to see how they're fake and just a computer generated person. Tron: Legacy had that when C.L.U got too close. He looks pixely and computer rendered. Most of the time you don't notice though.
