I tense up as I wait for my name to be called, along with my team number.
"Sage, you`re on team two." I turn my head towards the other kids that are on team two, and grimace when I see Jessica standing there.
"Uhm..well uh... Can I have a different team? I don`t work well with someone on that team." I watch for a change in his expression, "Please?" I add, with a slight smile.
"Well if you don`t get along with someone, pretend you do. Get out there with your team now," he says back.
The games would begin soon, but Mr. Rodgers instructed us to practice with our own teams first. We were discussing a stategy when all of a sudden Jessica throws a dodgeball at my face, it stings but at least I didn`t fall down.
"Hey look, I don`t want to be on this team any more than you do, and that ball almost hit Megan too, so why don`t you stop before you cause an accident."
"Your mom giving birth to you was an accident, you freak!" I could feel everyone`s eyes on me as she was laughing, along with the rest of my team.
I think that if everyone knew what I`ve been through throughout my life, they wouldn`t bully me. They wouldn`t treat me as if I am below them. I don`t want to sink down to their level of ungrateful jerks, but oh how I`d love to be popular, even just for a day. I have no friends, not even the others who were considered "nerds" were my friends. I had a best friend, Alice was her name, but she`s gone now. She was three years older than me, seventeen at the time of her death. She was in a car accident about two years ago, she would`ve been nineteen this year. We were super close, practically sisters, now the closest to a "friend" I had was my mom.

It`s usually the same routine everyday, after fourth hour I get a lunch and go outside to eat alone, underneath the big tree in the courtyard. Usually I have a turkey sandwich, a bag of Lays potato chips, and chocolate milk, but today I wanted a change.
