It's been a little while, so I thought I'd give an update on the status of HullBreach Studios (founded by Skunkman, Arch_Enemy, and me). Consider this an end-of-the-year update for this community, since aspects of it are related...
We were recently accepted into the Nintendo Developer Program (NDP), which is the replacement to Wario World. This program is essentially a step up from the Wii U Developer's program. That means we have progressed from foot-in-the-door status to full developer status, opening the possibility to bring games to the Nintendo 3DS line of products.
Currently, SDK Paint is on version 3 in the Wii U eShop (and demos in the eShop and on the iPad). This version gained several new tools and add-on content for art galleries and an effects pack. The next version is in production now. This is the big one, which will be directly related to this community! Both the Wii U and iPad will have online sharing at sdkpaint.com, where people will be able to rate and comment on art shared by others. Now, to be able to do those, there need to be member accounts, so this community will be expanding to include sdkpaint.com! The expected go-live will be the end of December, starting with connectivity with the iPad version and followed a couple months later with the Wii U version and a companion Apple TV viewer.
SDK Spriter is the next app in the "SDK" series. It is a full game development studio, start-to-finish. Portions of it are borrowed from the early tools in this community that were used to create assets for The Mystical Journey. They are just much more robust and fleshed out as a native app, rather than a mobile browser Web app. A demo will be in the Wii U eShop for North America on January 7th. It will be in Europe and Oceania later in January, as well. The full app will be ready in a few months and will also join this community!
This blog is getting kind of long, so I'll stop for now. Once everything is close to going live, I'll share a sneak peak with everyone to get some feedback. Prepare for a resurgence with this community in 2016!
