I stood on the pegs of Dan's bike as we raced back towards my house. We were on the dirt road, currently going 150 miles per hour, due to the speed skill. Dan and I both have it. I see my house coming in to view, Jason, Mom, and Dad waiting for us. Dan and I come to an abrupt stop, the dirt spraying up around us.
"You guys ready to go?" Dan asks, placing his foot on the ground to balance us. I glance up at the clear, blue sky. I know I'm ready.
"Yeah," My mother says. Dad nods and Jason smiles. Then, Mom tosses Dan and I a battered up book bag.
"Thanks. You guys stay safe," I say.
"We will," Jason assures me. Mom, Dad, and Jason walk behind the house to get their bikes.
"You ready, Gyani?" Dan asks.
"Yeah."
Dan starts to pedal, away from our small village, and in a minute, we're already on the road that leads to the City.
We then start to speed up, and the wind whips my short hair around my face. I grin, the feeling of elation taking over me.
"Whooo-hoo!" I shout, trying not to speak to loud. Dan pumps his fist in the air.
We started to ride in silence, and then a minute or two after that, the City erupted into my view. It was beautiful. The Perfects were so lucky they get to live in big houses and watch their fancy, holographic tv.
Dan and I come to a slow stop. I jump off the pegs and sling the book bag over my shoulder. Dan drops the bike to the ground.
"You ready to transform?"
"Yeah, you bet."
I close my eyes and concentrate on my dark haired-green eyed self. I almost immediately feel the energy sapped out of me. My eyes fly open, and I see the long, dark curtain of hair that reaches my waist. I've done this enough times to know I'd gotten it right.
I see Dan, and he looks similar to me, except he's a man. He grins at me.
"Shall we?" He asks mockingly. I set the time for an hour and thirty minutes so I know when we're going to change back.
"We shall," I say, and we hook arms and head into the City.
-time skip-
I glance down at the watch on my arm. It read 3 minutes. I quickly take the last bite of my yogurt and drop it into the book bag. Didn't want them to find it.
We were in a house that we've gone to a couple of times, but we always come back. There's this kid my age that lives here, but he's very clumsy and messy. He never picks up after himself.
The Perfects never know when we take something, because they always have more than they need.
I look down in our bag. We have two bananas, A loaf of bread, five of those small bags of chips, and some plastic baggies. Also two big cookies.
"Dan? Where are you? We need to hurry, because we only have two minutes left," I explain, walking through the house. I make sure my Invisibility skill is still enabled, and I find Dan in the kid's room. Dang, it's really messy in there.
"Can we pllleeeaaassseee have these?" Dan whines like a three year old. He's holding up two 3ds's and two chargers. I roll my eyes.
"Sure, but don't push it."
Dan throws the chargers and the 3ds's into the bag.
But then I hear the front door click.
And then the footsteps.
Dan stares at me, alarm in his eyes.
"Don't stand there staring at me, you idiot, hide!" I whisper-shout.
Dan becomes invisible and then jumps into the closet. I try to dive under the bed, but I can't because of all the junk under his bed. I mutter a swear under my breath, see that our time is up, and press my self flat against the wall, becoming invisible again. If I move, I'm only semi-invisible. So I stay pressed against the wall, adrenaline surging through my veins. My heart pounds like a drum against my chest and I tell myself to calm down.
