Everything is peacful, black, silent. Suddenly, flashes of red light up my eyes. Then the pain hits me. Oh, the pain. Deep cuts and scratches are all I feel, while a raspy voice laughs in the background.
"KRISTY" my mother's voice screams, and Brob leaves with a raspy "goodbye." "Kristy, my baby, wake up," my mom begs, and my eyes flutter open. I scream, the pain momentarly overwhelming me and clouding my vision. Then it all stops.
"M...mom?" I mutter, reaching out. Nothing.
I open my eyes, waking up with my curtains open, letting in the morning light. I look at my clock, and see that it's 10:30 AM. I leap out of bed, remembering about my 11:00 date.
"Oh, sweetie, you're up," my mother greets me, handing me a plate of waffles. "Thanks for healing my scratches," I mumble with a mouth full of food, examining my clear skin.
"Um... what scratches, honey?" she resonds, confused. I meet her eyes. "Nevermind," I quickly say, finishing my breakfast.
"I need to get ready, I have a date with Nate," I tell her, running into the bathroom. I brush my waist-length red hair, and pick out a flattering outfit. 10:50, and I'm ready to go.
Of course, Nate's already there, sitting at a coffee table. "Hello, Kris," Nate greets, using the nickname he knows I hate. "'Morning, Natalie," I say back, smirking. He rolls his eyes, smilling. "I already ordered, a small hot chocolate with a slice of carrot cake?" he asks, smiling. He know me so well. Confirming his answer, I look down to check my phone.
"You're lucky she wassss there, my dear Krisssssssty. You should be dead," a raspy voice croaks. I curse. "Did I get your order wrong?" Nate asks worridly, looking at me."No, no, just, uh... Nothing. Don't worry about it," I reassure him, giving a fake smile. "Kristy, I know that smile..." he shuts up when tell him I'm fine.
Suddenly, I hear Brob's laughter, and somebody screams.
