CHAPTER 12- Break free

The next day..

When I wake up, I sit up in the hospital bed, looking around. I look at my arm, but I don’t see any incisions or stitches. They didn’t chip me yet?

You woke up too early, the drugs wore off too soon. You have time to escape, they’re gathering information on you so hurry. A voice says inside my head, answering my question.
What the....

Wait, where's Karyn? I get up off the bed, and open the door to the next room. I find Karyn, in a hospital bed like mine. He sees me walking over, and gets up. “Zennia, let's get out of this place. Everyone's gone,” He then points to an opening in the left wall. “there's a tunnel that we can crawl through.”
Why would they leave a hole in the wall, if someone could easily escape? Do they even care about repairs? Weird.

Me and Karyn slide into the hole and crawl through it. Almost as if we were in a movie.

We soon come to the an exit, and drop through it. Karyn finds a locked door that leads outside. He picks the lock with a bobby pin, and the next thing we know, we're free. Me and Karyn take off running, spread our wings, and fly up over the electric fence, out into the open blue sky.
“Well, what now?” I ask as we fly, our wings moving up and down at the same rate. “Let's go find a place to stay for a while.” he says, giving me a small smile. “Okay,” I say, smiling back.
I was still trying to recover from the trauma of losing my mom. But I knew if Karyn was here, I’d feel a bit better.
