I've been using Spotify a lot recently and I don't have their premium so I keep hearing a stupid amount of ads and you know what I don't understand, like at all? Why do ads almost always have to be annoying. I don't mean like, their existence is annoying, although it is. I mean why do the contents of the ads have to be annoying, or sometimes downright infuriating. Like, getting on my nerves won't make me want to buy your product Susan, it just makes me want to commit violent felonies against any child involved in those ads with the screaming children.
Seriously though, who decided that "Ah yes, we want people to buy our Tv dinners? Why don't we just roleplay them as a stressed out mother, with a generic sitcom husband and the screaming and crying of their fictional crotch goblins, the sounds of barking dogs and every other annoying sound we can think of!" That doesn't get me to want to buy your Tv dinners Jeremy! It makes me want to stab myself in the ears or throw my phone across a room to make the noise s t o p. I don't get it.
Especially because some ads can be fine. Its just an ad like "Hey we have this thing, buy our thing" but for some reason, atleast in the case of Spotify ads until I turned off targeted ads they were the same 5 annoying ads that made me physicallly angry.
And you might say "Well kit just pay for their premium dumbass" but like, no fuck you. That's money I do not have. I also don't generally have a problems with ads themselves like I said, its just the specifically annoying or distracting ones.
Besides any ads that contain screaming children for no reason, I don't get the point of those ads trying to get you to buy like Subway or food in general so they just play disgusting eating sounds in your ear? Like no one wants to hear people chomping on their food like a neanderthal with no teeth on normal occasions, I especially don't want to while I'm trying to enjoy some music. I hope everyone involved with the making of those ads has to suffer horribly for their choices.
I also don't understand those ads that try to be hip with the kids and use "modern slang" but they don't know how to actually use it? Like I keep consistently hearing these ads for haircare products and in one the one chick asks the other if she wants to borrow her glitter spray or something and the one goes "Yes please I s t a n, Aussie" Like Jennifer nobody talks like that outside the internet. Especially about fucking hair care products. Atleast, I hope they don't. Please tell me they don't. Please. There's another where they say something about "Glamping" Like what?? Thats not a word? Nobody has ever said that willingly I'm sure.
Either it's really obvious like nobody under the age of 45 worked anywhere near the creation of the ads. Those ads atleast aren't super annoying, more just confusing. Or maybe none of these ads are annoying and I'm just easily irritated.
The only other ads I keep hearing consistently that don't necessarily get on my nerves but are mostly annoying due to repetition are all of Spotify's own "Buy premium!" Ads.
They all have the same reasons to buy premium which either doesn't apply to me or is just kind of insulting lmao.
Like half their own ads are just "You dont wanna run out of skips do you?? Do you!? Well then pay us money!" Problem is, I literally don't ever skip songs. I've learned the secret to not have spotify play shitty reccomended songs after your own playlists end so I don't use my 6 skips.
The other ads they have are just "You don't like having your music intereupted do you? Well then pay us money and we'll stop UwU" cause like, now I'm just not gonna, out of s p i t e. And lack of money to pay like what is it? 10, 12 bucks a month? Just so I don't hear ads.
Honestly if it wasn't for the fact most of my spotify playlists are like long as fuck I would just pirate my music and put it in my google play and not deal with any ads at all, but thats a lot of effort and I don't feel like hunting down every single song in my one huge playlist cause its super big.
But yea, there, I'm back on my Bullshit, I've c o m p l a i n e d about something.
I've never used Spotify before, but my Dad pays for the Ad-free version of Hulu, simply because some of there Ads were EXTREMELY annoying!
In particular, whenever he'd watch anything that happened to be MA-Rated (Attack on Titan, for example), they put a bunch of Ads for products that (AFAIK) I'm not even allowed to mention here.
(And even if I am, I won't.)
It all got so annoying that he ultimately decided to pay Hulu their (additional) fee, just so they'd quite harassing him with the same obnoxious (and oftentimes offensive) Ads over and over.
I've never used Hulu but ew yea that sounds annoying. I don't see why a streaming service should have ads if you're already paying for the streaming service. Seems kinda bs tbh but idk.

I agree COMPLETELY!
Personally, once I'm the one paying for my own Streaming Services, I'll probably skip Hulu, Netflix (who doesn't throw Ads in your face, BTW), and Amazon altogether, and just go for ones like CrunchyRoll, and Funimation's Streaming Service.
They're completely Ad-free (if you pay), and 90% of what I'd want to watch is Anime, anyhow.
The limited skips part is what grinds my gears about Spotify, like i get you need to make money, that’s okay. But the 6 skips thing is just very obvious gatekeeping. I don’t want to be forced to listen to the entire Disney’s Moana ALL the time, ya know?
I've never really had that issue tbh, but then again I have like 15 playlists I jump between and one of them is like 280 songs.
I've found if you make your playlists long and turn autoplay off in the settings it won't suggest songs to you once its run through the playlist though.

I’m guilty of organizing small mood playlists, but damn guess I just need an all music playlist lmao
Most of my playlists are just organized into one specific bands songs, lol. The big one is the only one thats really more than one band cause its a bunch of Metal and Rock songs I like that go together without being jarring.
***like what do you have ads for? For money. Okay there’s your profit. so give us skips thennnnn. Why is listening to music that I want to listen to a luxury lol
