My life has gotten too busy to handle all the updates to the Community on my own, so I have decided to partially open source it and enlist the assistance of anyone who would like to contribute.
If you would like to take part, I can provide access to the new GitLab repository and the MySQL database schema. You would have to set up a *AMP server on your own computer and have a Git client to push and pull code. I have tested both GitKraken and Xcode, but plenty of other solutions also exist. You will need knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, to contribute.
I would get the final say for code merges to enforce security, but I am open to all kinds of ideas for new features that could benefit the Community. For the most part, DSiPaint.com will continue to focus on content specific to the Nintendo DSi, but 3DSPaint.com content should work on the (New) Nintendo 3DS but may also support features for any other Web browser, mobile or computer. If enough new features cannot work on the (New) Nintendo 3DS, I may mirror over the website to SDKCommunity.com and expand the scope of features there.
By freeing up my time from many of the tasks that have been building up in the Help Desk, I will be able to shift my focus back to the API, which will allow first- and third-party apps to connect directly to the Community to share leaderboards, handle match-ups, etc.
If you are interested, you can DM me, reply to this blog, or contact me outside the Community if you already have my contact info.
@HullBreach I love that you made a site for people on thier 3ds! I have a 2ds and wanted to find a site that i could chat and do stuff on. and like a sign from heaven, a random site showed random sites that work on 3ds and i went on here and immediately loved it! I sincerely thank you for this! (im not supposed to be on the internet but i dont care. ) I love the community here!
