It seems that I arrived right as the workers are touching up everything before finishing. I'm told that it would take about 2 more days, so I'll just stay in a local hotel to wait it out. Might be time for sightseeing!
I've been looking forward to this opportunity! Can't wait to start :p
This work... it's really strange. Why would they even bother to choose a misfit like me to lead a secret branch of their navy? After all, I'm just on loan from the United States to train some Japanese personnel... I don't think this is exactly what the guys back home had in mind, but this will do. After all, I am training some Japanese officers on how to run this base, but I am learning on the job, too, it seems...
Or do they plan on not returning me? After all, I'm rather irreplaceable in my current situation. I really don't like how this might play out...
I'm not one to complain, though. This job is quite fulfilling. I'm working with competent people to help defend home waters and coordinate attacks on enemy forces. Trying to fend for peace, but this has been going on for years on end now. Not sure if this experimental branch can do much.
I have been using that noggin of mine quite a bit now. More than I would think for this kind of oddball position. Especially with the possibility of an enemy air raid at any moment... it's enough to keep me up at night. Especially since there's no good place to run. This base is at the end of a small, secluded valley, after all. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the sea on the third. It really is isolated from the rest of the naval district... I guess it's only logical if they want us to be hidden. I don't have any decent anti-air coverage at the moment, but I hope I can cover that soon. I asked Akashi to craft something up, and by the looks of it, it's coming along well. Albeit slowly... I might have to ask Maya to hold down the fort in the case of a raid.
Goodness gracious, why am I recording something like this. This will only make me worry about this in the future wwwwww.
