This still does not work on the 2/3DS. Sorry. This method of copy/pasting is exclusive to DSi.

What if I told you, yes, YOU, DSi user, that you can use REVOLUTIONARY copy/paste technology on your dinky little DSi? Or just don't use a DSi, jesus.

(Just as a note: I will be using jávascript throughout this blog. When you actually type it out, don't put the accent on the "a" so it works.)

I'll just post the code below and then I'll try to explain.jávascript:document.getElementById

The red text is the ID of the element which you want to paste the text in. Essenially, the thing you want to place the text in. Here's a quick list of text boxes all over the site:
- The textbox for blogs and bulletin boards has an id of body.
- The textbox for chatrooms has an id of txtPost.
- The textbox for shoutbox has an id of txtShout.
- The textbox for profile comments doesn't have an ID, and I'll address that later.
- The textbox for blog comments has an id of comment.

Sidenote for elements without IDs:

The green text is the text that you want to paste into the blog. You can write pretty much anything in here, even line breaks. To enter a line break, use \n. Also, if you use a single quote or a double quote in your text, use a backslash (\) to escape it.

That's cool and all, but how do you use it?

This is where the magic happens: you first need to create a Favorite (bookmark, if you will) and edit the URL to your liking. This is where you write what is above.
Once you're satisfied, close the menu and navigate to where you want to paste the text. Open your Favorites menu again and click on the Favorite you created earlier. If everything went well, then the code should execute and the pasting operation should work! If nothing happens, always double-check your code and make sure all naughty quotes have a backslash before them. I've made mistakes like that more times than I'd like to admit.

That should let you able to bypass the 2000 character limit on the DSi! However, bookmarks themselves have a 1024 character limit, so you can only write so much (965 characters per bookmark with this method).

What if I want to copy/paste multiple times?

This is the deep end of the pool... only use this if you're writing serious novels in your bookmarks. Here are the two different codes:jávascript:b=document.getElementById

The first code is for the first URL in the set you will use, and the second code is for all subsequent URLs. The same color codes from above apply. (By the way, I used b as the variable name for no good reason, so any one-letter variable name will work just as well.)

The first one yields 957 characters for the text while the second one yields 991 characters. This makes this second method more efficient than the first if you use multiple bookmarks at once. Also, if all 64 bookmarks are used, then this yields a maximum of 63390 characters! This should improve over the previous method by at least 2100 characters.
