fun fact :] the show is based off a nuclear testing island [hence the wierd stuff] so everything there is mutated. spongebob is a regular sponge but mutated. in short the only thing that makes sense is that nothing makes sense and the restaurant krusty crab is a joke referring to the island name bikini bottom [for anyone wondering ''the krusty crab at the bikinis bottom'' ......

karen is not water proof :0! she is but isnt and its weird. ok so there's this one episode where plankton sings her a little love song for their anniversary. After he sings the song she starts crying tears of joy. the tears drip down her screen and get into her parts n stuff and she malfunctions and shuts down bc of the water getting in2 her system like idk man

1) SpongeBob is a sea sponge who just happens to look exactly like a cleaning sponge.

2) He is affected by air like a sea sponge because he is a sea sponge.

3) Mr. Krabs' daughter is either adopted, or perhaps Pearl's mom was a whale, and somehow Mr Krabs and her were able to reproduce, despite their vastly different physiologies.

4) Sheldon (Plankton's first name) is obviously a genius, and he must've been able to design a computer wife for himself that could function underwater using highly advanced technology.
(We humans have already invented some computerized devices that are highly water-resistant or waterproof, so imagine what Sheldon could've come up with?)

5) Because the name "Squidward" is the cephalopod equivalent of the human name "Edward", and both squids and octopi are cephalopods.

6) They wanted SpongeBob's pet to be an invertebrate species (unlike fish, which are vertebrates like us), and they just went with a meowing sound because they thought it'd make sense for a pet to make that sound.
(Plus it's funny, lol!)

7) Not directly, but I highly suspect that it is based off of Krusty Burger on The Simpsons, which in turn is based on McDonald's.
(Which is why they both have clown mascots.)

1. spongebob is a actual sea sponge uh i think bc there was this one episode were the green moon comes and every sea creature turns into like the normal irl creatures and spongebob turned into a sea sponge
