I laid awake at night, staring at the Bad Religion poster hanging on the wall. I couldn't sleep, not after what had happened last night. I rolled over to the side, my body sinking into my soft mattress wishing for sleep to take me away from my thoughts. However they kept me up. I couldn't get the vison out of my head, the...Incident will never be forgotten..
A notification from my phone made me jerk my body to my bedside table, as I unlocked it. It was a message from Sophie, simply reading: "You ok?" I quickly replied with shaking fingers: "No."
I laid back down when my phone buzzed again. I was too lazy to check it this time, so I closed my eyes once more, finally falling asleep.
I woke up to the loud ringing of my alarm, I quickly got up and threw on a red T-shirt with some jeans and ran out the door.
Without eating breakfast. (I go to high school, they have breakfast there.)
I didn't eat breakfast there either, because I was late. Why?
Because I ran to school.
Why did I have to run?
I missed the bus.
Skipping past all the boring class stuff, as I was walking down the halls, something intresting happened.
I heard something. A low, raspy voice call my name.
"...Daniel..."
Ah hell no.
For some reason instead of listening to every instinct in my body that told me to get the heck out of there, I didn't. Why?
That is a fantastic question.
The voice spoke again with a echo.
"...Daniel..." I could hear where it was coming from. The old classroom. The one where nobody was allowed in.
Simply because it was unused.
I always thought there was something fishy about it.
This confirmed that there was indeed something up. However I would be a fool to check it out now...
For starters, I was alone. Oh boy, going into the unused classroom where the creepy voice is calling you is a brilliant idea!
That is how you get murdered.
While I was in history, instead of listening to my teacher and taking notes...Well I was taking notes, but on something completely diffrent.
I was planning on breaking into the school at night and checking out the abandoned classroom.
You know, normal teenager things.
I didn't have much of a "Plan" Written down, mainly just things I thought it would be...
Perhaps there was a underground lab under the school that contained another "Ellipse" pod.
Or maybe it was a normal classroom.
OR MAYBE, It contained something with the ability to alter reality as we knew it.
Probably not.
I assured myself I was overthinking it.
After finishing my satanic ramblin-...Errrrr, notes.
I checked the clock. Class was over. Apparently I had gotten a little too lost in my thoughts because everybody in the classroom had already left. (Including the math teacher.)
Everybody was in the halls talking with eachother.
About what they were doing on the weekend, or asking eachother on dates, or whatever normal teenagers do.
"Oh yeah, I'm going to be breaking into the school to find forbidden secretes about the planet."
Uh-huh, conpletely normal, I wouldn't be taken to a mental ward for saying that. Totally.
After walking for what felt like hours (3 minutes) I found Sophie and Chad.
I greeted them formally.
"Guys, you'll never guess what I found!" I exclaimed, panting.
Did I mention I ran down the halls?
"...The secret compartment in Dylans locker?" Chad guessed.
"What? No. The abandoned classroom spoke to me, I don't know what it meant but-" I was interupted.
"Don't even think about it we already lost one friend. I don't need you to die aswell..." Sophie contested.
"Using the word friend loosely..." I muttered, which rewarded me with Chad jabbing his elbow into my gut. Which kinda hurt.
"Ow, Ow, okay jeez. But aren't you curious as to what the hell is going on? We could all be in danger right now.
The 'Oh it's probably fine' mentality could lead us to our deaths!" I explained, a little too loudly because I heard some random kid clapping, before going off to do whatever he was going to do.
"I agree." Chad stated, clearly not paying attention.
"I'm not going." Sophie metaphorically put hee foot down.
Me and chad spent hours planning, until it was nightime. We snuck out and drove to the school.
I step out of the van.
"So are you SURE this is a good idea?"
Chad asked.
"No. No I'm not." I replied, walking up to the window, peering in. The lunchroom contained no people.
Surreal.
Then I enacted my brillant plan, charged through the window, shattering the glass I fell to the floor with a loud thud.
I looked at my bloodied arms and legs, scraped from the glass. Picked the wrong day to wear shorter clothing, huh?
Chad climbed into the window safely.
"Woah dude, are you okay?" He asked.
"Just a few scratches!" I Say, standing up and dusting myself.
I never said I was okay, so technically I didn't lie.
The school's atmosphere felt different at night, the once active , loud and frantic mood as been replace with an overlooming sense of dread.
And you know, the purple glow coming from the abandoned classroom.
"I think I might know where we're going...." Chad murmured, looking at the light pretruding from the bottom of the door.
I opened the door and looked inside. There was a floading glowing sphere, however it didn't look like a magic orb, more so a....Glowing sphere.
(Getting real creative aren't I?)
I took a single slow step towards it when Chad grabbed my arm.
"The hell are you doing?"
"I'm gonna touch it."
Chad shot me a look, the all too familiar eyebrow raise.
"Are you crazy? You're gonna die!" Chad pressed.
"What if it grants me all the power in the world, or fixes all of life's problems?!" I countered.
"What if it kills us all?!"
Chad screamed.
"What if it could bring Veronica back?"
I did it, my words hit him like knives, I had brought up.
A point.
I tentatively reached out for the sphere, before I can touch it, it flies into my chest, the sphere is inside me now. Before I can do anything, I wasn't in the school anymore, I was in the van.
