DSi Paint Spriter is a tool on the DSi Paint website to let you make tall 8-frame animations. The tool lets you use a variety of colours to create your animation and lets you save them onto your account for voting.
...But you knew all that, right?
EASE OF USE: ** [2/5]
DSi Paint Spriter isn't particularly easy to use. Mostly, the colours are extremely fiddly, and it would take you at least 5 tries to get the colour you want. (Unless you're using a DSi XL) It can be confusing to beginners too, but when you get the knack of it, all you need to worry about is colour selection.
FEATURES: **** [4/5]
There are a lot of features in DSi Paint Spriter. There are TWO Copy/Paste boxes, for starters. The ability to choose 8-frames, 4-frames or 4-frames Widescreen is really useful too, as it lets every spriter use their preferred technique of spriting. There are also a LOT of colours to select from, so you probably won't find that you have to substitute an almost-colour to copy the ultimate sprite. Very good here.
GRAPHICS: ?
That's up to the USER to decide. It's a DRAWING tool, after all. The graphics are whatever the user draws.
GLITCH-FREE-NESS: *** [3/5]
There are a few noticable glitches in DSi Paint Spriter. One being that when you choose a bigger colour, you'll find the corner going where you tapped, not the middle.. The other one is a small problem with Copy/Paste, being that you have to tap the cel after you finished pasting onto it for the changes to take effect.
OVERALL: **** [4/5]
Overall, this is a brilliant home-designed tool for the DSi, and it works really well, too. There may be a few slipups here and there, but that doesn't detract from the overall enjoyability of the tool. Huzzah!
