I've watched the news and thete was one story that popped out the most. A highschool student in the town I live was kidnapped and raped. It all started when she was online and she met a new person. They eventually became friends, the person she met eventually asking her to run away with him. I would know right away that something was wrong, but she didn't. She told him her adress and he drove all the way from North Carolina (she was in New York) and kidnapped her. He was eventually found and arrested. He was 48 years old, and judging from his picture he hadn't taken a bath in any of those years.
The reason I decided to post this was to make you more cautious of who your talking to when your online.
Signs of a greasy cyberhobo:
Gives many comments to you, gives too much sympathy.
Looks for kids who complain about something (ex. "my rents took my phone away, i h8 dem! >). The cyberhobo builds off that. A likely reply is "i no, u shud run away, they dont luv u any mor".
Anyways, just be careful who you talk to, and what you tell them.
We talked about this stuff at school for my freshman seminar class at school. Scary stuff but i never understood why you wouldn't notice something is wrong when you're being asked for your adress. I guess people have manipulating words. I was wondering, though, when have they called them cyberhobos?
