Hey everyone,
Welcome to the first (official) lesson of Japanese.
In this blog, I will just be covering all of the vocabulary for Lesson 1.
It will include:
people/family/*school* BONUS! ^_^
-People-
Watashi: It means "I". Many people I've talked to think that this is only used by women. That is not true; watashi can be used by both men and women. However, there are words for "I" that are only used by men that are probably more commonly used than watashi. (I believe there are words only women can use as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that) For now, I will just use watashi.
Jin: Means "person" or "people". In Japanese, nouns can be singular or plural without the actual word being changed. There is no plural form like in English. It may be confusing at first, but as you study Japanese more, you'll be able to know when a noun is either singular or plural. From now on, I will only state nouns as singular, just remember that they can be both however.
Tomodachi: "friend"
-Family-
Okaasan: "Mother"
Otousan: "Father"
Oneesan: "Older Sister"
Oniisan: "Older Brother"
Imouto: "Younger Sister
Otouto: "Younger Brother"
Obaasan: "Grandmother"
Ojiisan: "Grandfather"
-School-
Gakkou: "School" (any kind)
Gakusei: "Student" (any kind)
Koukou: "High School"
Koukousei: "High School Student"
Daigaku: "College"
Daigakusei: "College Student"
Sensei: "Teacher" >o>
Senmon: "Major"
Ryuugakusei: "International Student"
nensei: "year student"
Ex. Ichinensei: "1st year student"
(This will make more sense once you learn numbers.)
Please be the look out for my next part called "Japanese Learning: Lesson 1-Vocabulary(Part 2)" which includes:
Time/Other words
lolz,it aint like somebody could really learn enough to carry out a conversation in japanese from your blogs but these seem very interesting.i like it ^-^
accepted, reason: as I said before, Japanese fans might enjoy this...but just a suggestion-it might help if you put a pronunciation key of some sort so people know how to say these words.
