They have recently had a earthquake in haiti. The United Way is holding a emergency fund. drive. So you should tell your school`s princibal to hold a fundraiser or gather money at least one person brings $1 so somebody your age will get at least or any age will get something. You should have a goal at least more than $1,000. Thank you for your time and please comment.
My school haz had fundraisers. Since we have to wear uniforms we have dollar jeans days on some Fridays. Theres like more then 1,000 kids in my school, and we've raised -one time- over $3,000.
yeah, poor people can only hope that one day some non greedy guy donates LOTS of money and food, clothes, etc to let people less fortunate than us start their lives over again! i donated $150 out of my bank account
My school has required uniforms....we payed 2$ to wear regular clothes....we raised about 1,000$ i'm happy that we helped but then again sad/ashamed of what happened to all those innocent lives...=/
Giving aid is definitely a good idea for a disaster like this. Giving money is NOT a good idea. Places should be holding can food drives and/or clothing drives to help for this!
I agree with you Hull, and also, many of the cellphone carriers have text donations and they wave wireless fees for these texts. So with your parent/guardian's permission, text some donations.<(^-^)>
Some people's greed is only surpassed by the rotteness of their souls. Tsk Tsk, keeping most of the money? Do these vile companies want to piss off karma?
Although donating money seems like a good act on the surface, most money goes toward corrupt politicians and bureaucratic overhead and never makes way to those who need it the most. For example, of all the money given to the International Red Cross after the 9/11 attacks, 70% went to "administrative costs", leaving just 30% for those in need. Many on this website may be too young to remember the commercials Sally Struthers used to due for donating "just pennies a way" to help feed and clothe poor African children. Somewhere between 90% and 95% of those donations went to the non-profit company making the ads. Corrupt governments of 3rd world countries also gladly accept money to line their own pockets, not give to the suffering poor.
Here is what I suggest instead:
Many charity organizations like churches, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and more, will accept care packages in the form of canned foods, clothing, blankets, toiletries, and other such necessities. If you would like to contribute, please contact one of your local organizations, and ask them how you can help. The Haitian people are in need of all the help they can get.
