Just a few months before the release date, Nintendo has warned parents not to let children under the age of 6 play any games in 3D mode on the 3DS. This comes after TV manufacturers like Sony and Panasonic also give advice about viewing 3D programmes.
The 3D mode will also be nauseating for a number of players, so if you don't know already, the console has a slider that changes the 3Dness of the game.
The 3DS will probably be on sale for around £200/$300 which seems a bit on the high side, but we'll have to wait for a final price on it
I hope everyone does good at keeping the nintendo 3DS away from six year olds! Thanks for making this blog, I probablly would not have known if you hadn't.
Man, that stinks that the 3D will make me a bit dizzy and all. I just want to see it in action, so I know why it does that. It's a little understandable when I think about it, though. My main focus is the price. First, I hear $230.00, then an astonishing $1,000.00. Now $300.00. Nintendo better be loaded with answers. We really need them, eh?
From what I understand, the reason why 3D screen developers issue these warnings is that the eyes of young children are still developing. They are building the muscles and basic structures to focus the eyes in unison at different depths. Since these screens fake depth on the flat surface, they harm the development of the eyes.
There were similar warnings when the Virtual Boy and SEGA's virtual reality goggles came out in the mid-1990s.
