I noticed that a lot of people on this site [me included] play Minecraft, and since today was a pretty major update, I figured I'd give a little info.
1st- Sandstone found at bottom of sand areas: not really a big deal.
2nd- more types of half-steps/slabs: cobblestone, sandstone, and wood.
3rd- Pressure plate recipe changed: stone and wood pressure plates now only take 2 material to accomodate with the new slabs.
4th- Redstone repeaters/delayers: those repeaters used to lengthen a signal now come in one block that can have its delay time changed. The recipe is a redstone dust with redstone torches on both sides of it, with a layer of 3 smooth stone underneath.
5th- BEDS: yes, beds can now be made with a row of 3 wool [any color] on top of a row of 3 planks. Using a bed during the night [only time it works] will skip ahead to morning without any effect on your health, crops, furnaces, or mobs. In a later update, using a bed will set it as your spawn point.
That's pretty much the major stuff, except a few SMP bug fixes. If this gets accepted, I might do blogs on future major updates. Thanks, and happy mining!
This is a pretty nice update, I'm definitely enjoying playing around with the world generator seeds. Try "-11" and "fly", IMO they generate some great maps.
Also, MCregion. It just increases the chunk size so it loads faster. And you can't forget the new worlds menu! renaming and more than 5 worlds! When you are going to venerate a map, the name matters! Diferent names effect it diferently (I was expecting naming one Notch would give me an awesome one, its half grass and half sand. Meh.) Nether doesn't make a nether one, tried that XD
: D great blog! i'm included in that list of players. BUT, you did miss one major thing (to me mainly :p) Smooth Lighting! It's so easy on the eyes now, I love it more.
