Last quarter in writing, we made poetry anthologies, and I just thought I'd share some of my poems. They're mostly different kinds by the way. A few are also from my 5th grade poetry unit.
Sitting at the Pond
I am sitting at the pond,
perched on a rock,
wondering
what I may see.
All of a sudden
I'm surrounded by
a world filled with action.
Sillhouettes of fish
and tadpoles
glitter,
as they speed around.
The feel of the cool water is soothing,
the moisture,
of the rock,
feels refreshing,
on a hot day.
Sounds of buzzing fill my head,
imediately,
I know who's behind it...
Pitty Cat
I was too young
to remember het well
I was too young
yes you can tell.
That jet black cat
who was a bit stout,
I would be her instegator
but she wouldn't pout.
My chubby puny body
crouched in my blue pail
saw Pitty emerge
and let out a wail.
She sprinted to the woods
never to return
to truly know her,
I yearn.
Two Lives
Maybe I could feel,
Maybe I could feel,
the luminent sea breeze
spinning through my beard.
I would make the bird-face
at some odd creature
defending my rock
the crickets too.
Pearched up so high
docks spred far and wide
boats roaming the sea
kites flying high
in the salty clouds.
Ooh, lookie here
look at this sand-flea
scampering through the sand
like a lost pup.
Perhaps he will be
my next prey.
All this seems
so very bright
I know you will agree,
but enclosed in this glass
is where I want to be.
Clouds
arms and legs sprawled out
flat on the damp green
eyes positioned skyward
galloping on northbound
acting opaque toward the blue
lifting the dew from my shirt
transforming itself to dusk
forcing it's mouth to widen
spitting crisp drippy crystals
