Now, I know that black has been out for a while, but it's still the newest pokemon game out there, so I thought I'd add a fresh point of view
Asthetics: 5/5.
The asthetical design for this game is amazing, the addition of constant pokemon movement during battles was incredibly enjoyable, and the cinimatics were awestriking.
Main campaign: 3/5
The main campaign was much too short in my opinion. In the older games, only a few of the towns had gyms, in pokemon black, the first ten town you go to have gyms in them; I think that this takes to much away from the story.
Main plot: 4/5
Team plasma's motives were a work of art, even though thier actions were predictable. The "N" character was a work of art, not only in his character development, but also in his personality. One thing really dissapointed me about the plot; in the older games, the legendary pokemon were the pivot point of the story, however, in this game you don't even aquire the legendary pokemon until late in the game.
Gameplay: 2/5
Though I had heard that the game was more difficult then the others, these accounts were untrue. The genwas, however much more tedious. I chose Snivy as my starter, and I soon found out that I had a type disadvantage to 60% of all pokemon I fought. All this did was drag out the battles more. The A.I. Itself was not improved either, opponents pokemon would still use leer 20 times in a row, and any pokemon that had protect or detect would spam it over and over again, making the battles takes minutes and minutes to finish. I was also dissapointed by the lack of puzzles.
Extras: 1/5
I was enraged about every extra that I found. The department store was puny, barely selling more then a regular poke-mart would. They replaced pokemon contests with the "pokemon musical". This involved nothing but dressing up your pokemon and watching it prance around for a bit. Most of the other main extra gameplay devices require wi-fi; not everyone has wi-fi, yet Nintendo doesn't seem to grasp that.
Tms/Hms: 1/5
There were almost no places to buy tms, the department store alone sold a grand total of 2 tms. It's pathetic, the extreme lack of purchasable Tms subjects you to the full force of type advantages. What? you want to defend yourself? Try using leer! What's that? Leer is useless? Too bad.
The lack of Hms also angers me, in the other pokemon games you needed a whole bunch of Hms in order for you to to anywhere, but pokemon black, they give you cut and strength, which are useless, and also fly; which they probably only included because they didn't want to handle any complaints.
Overall game rating: 2/5
This game was a mockery of the previous generations, this pathetic exuse for a pokemon game is like a rich supersmart world famous athlete having a lazy fat idiot bum as a child. Though still fairly entertaining, I don't think it's worth spending any real amount of money on.
Gamefreak Employee 1: Okay, so, last night, my 5 year old drew these pictures and named them. So this will be snivy, this is oshawott, and this is tepig. Now, how are the graphics coming along?
Good review. While some of your points aren't completely valid, such as the one about TMs, a review is supposed to show one's opinion of the game and its aspects, which I think you did a good job of.
I personally disagree with your opinion. If you think about it, you get all legendaries pretty late, you can buy TM's in certain Pokecenters BTW, or find some. They have a full number of HM's, it's just that this game isn't as focused on being able to use them as other games have been. It's obviously not the best, but I definitely think it's worth the money. You can be a Kwick Gamer, but don't make any Kwick Assumptions either.
i agree that there werent enough extras and they should have kept the fun stuff they had in SS and HG. i would say that SS and HG were better but B and W battle style make SS and HG's battle style look awfully stale and dull
It's decent, No Generation will ever match to Crystal, and Gen II, for that matter. The longest storyline, perhaps the most entertaining... And HG/SS do not count, as I do not consider remakes to be, err, "canon", let's say... However, that is merely your opinion, and this is merely mine.
accepted, reason: Very well written & you make it a point to say that you think making it clear that's it's your opinion. You then go on to explain in deatil what supports that opinion. Good punctuation, spelling (I saw some typos), & form also make for a great blog.
