Nintendo has left SpotPass in the rain. If your a 3DS owner like me, you'll know you maybe at the most you will get one or two SpotPass notifications per month. Maybe even for games not even by Nintendo. In fact I've only gotten two SpotPasses since launch. One was for an update and another for Nintendogs+Cats. Not much right? Nintendo shown SpotPass as this. [image] http://www.n-europe.com/RedShell/3ds.gif [/image] We should get more of that. They made it seem like it was a daily thing. They should be bombarding us with borderline-illegal levels of blue SpotPass lights to keep early adopters interested. It was supposed to be a incentive to keep your 3DS in the charging cradle and to make your electric bill high. It seems as if Nintendo completely forgotten about it. Therefore, there is no reason to keep your 3DS in it's baby cradle and keep your electric bill spiking.() Nintendo should start using SpotPass. It's not going to magically pick up and everyone is going to be talking about it. The only 3DS titles I heard to have gotten a SpotPass are Nintendogs+Cats and Super Street Fighter IV 3D.(By the way, I have both.) It reminds me of Wii Connect 24. Nintendo was like "Leave your Wii on! You will be so happy!". What about that "Leave your 3DS on everyday for something new!"? Sure haven't seen any of that. I sure hope SpotPass will pick up after the June 6 update(Yes it was delayed.) or after E3(which starts June 7th.). I think Nintendo should have some other ways to implement SpotPass.
First of all, advertising. They said it was hard to market and advertise because it is 3D and you have to be there in person to see the effect. They can use SpotPass! Millions of us already have a 3DS! "That new game looks good!" People will be saying when they get a SpotPass and there is a commercial, 3D, with a new game. Demos too. Like Nintendo Channel. And yes you should be able opt in and out to the kind of games.
Second. Nintendo news. Also like Nintendo Channel but automatic. Some people would like to know whats up and down. Imagine watching things that happened at the E3, on your 3DS in 3D! And like I said before. Demos. How 'bout that Mario game shown at the E3?
Third and final. Game reviews, tips, etc. Maybe you could subscribe to something. Maybe IGN and it would SpotPass you, and notify you if a review etc were posted. Some social networking ability in SpotPass would be a delight. Nintendo has also teamed up to provide "SpotPass Stations" that will be in place on June 7th. So may we be expecting things? I guess E-Shop and etc. won't be the only things to expect. But remember, these are ideas and doesn't mean Nintendo will actually do this.
Hmm... I can understand the frustration, but I've only experienced it, well, never. Nothing of mine connects to internet AND gets alerts...
Anyway, I do like your ideas. Most of them are realistic, and considering you can just go to some stores and get demos and watch previews, Ninty could easily do that, and it's all under their thumb, waiting to be complete. Your move, Iwata.
