First up on this blog, you've seen them, you hate them. That's right ANNOYERS.
Annoyers are pokemon that.... well.... annoy. They're those pokemon that do things like using Encore, then disable. Or maybe pokemon that won't get KO'd. Annoyers are usually fast or extremely defensive, but have very low attack and sp.atk stats. They're purpose is to make your opponent angry and frustrated so they make terrible choices. They pretty much always have Thunder Wave or a confusion move.
Next are baton passers. Ever had one of those battles where your opponent keeps gaining stats then using Baton Pass? You're thinking to yourself "....what's he/she doing?" Then suddenly they send out a Magikarp that could murder Chuck Norris. What you just witnessed was a Baton Passing chain. Baton Passers usually have high speed or defensive stats, but lack in offensive, just like annoyers. Probably the most common Baton Passer is Ninjask(Also one of my favorite pokemon). With Speed Boost, all Ninjask has to do is stall a few turns then the pokemon that it baton passes to will be almost impossible to outrun.
Almost forgot about this one. Tanks! Tanks are pokemon with high defensive and offensive stats. They can take a hit, then send it back. A great example is Swampert. Swampert can take multiple hits, especially because of its types, and it has good offensive stats too. Plus it can learn Curse, which increases its attack and defense. However, it does lower speed.
Lastly are supporters. All these pokemon are really good for is healing your team. Supporters again, are fast or extremely defensive. They're the pokemon that heal your team, whether it be HP or status problems. Most will have status moves of their own, so they aren't completely useless when going up against a wall or sweeper. A good example is an Umbreon with Wish. It can take hits and heal up your team, but it can't deal out much damage(not in a supporter set anyway).
you may have noticed how often i said "most" and words of the sort. i wasn't saying all. The setup your vaporeon is using i would call a baton passer, but i suppose supporter works as well... not sure why you brought up shuckle...
Even though it would prolly be a better annoyer, Shuckle makes an amazingly good tank. It's near-signature move, Power Split, forces you opponent to halve their Attack and Sp. Attack, while giving what they just lost to you. For example, if your Shuckle has a 44 Attack stat, and the target Scizor has a 394 Attack stat, one use of Power Split and both Shuckle and Scizor have 219 Attack stats, with Shuckle's 614 Defense left intact. This allows you to then use Earthquake or STAB Rock Slide (or Gyro Ball, you are slow enough) to deal a surprisingly high amount of damage with the little turtle (tied for the 2nd lowest Attack in the game with Blissey), where the Scizor, even with STAB Technician 2xSE Life Orb Bullet Punch, is left either doing at most 33% damage/hit, or switching to something that can actually hit hard.
Also, a supporter doesn't always have to use Wish. I actually carry a supporter, high defenses of course, with Acid Armor (*2 Defense), Amnesia (*2 Sp. Defense), Aqua Ring (gives extra 6.25% HP recovery/turn, just like Leftovers), and Baton Pass. Her name is Vaporeon, commonly seen as one of the best tanks in the game, not as a supporter. Yes, I know it fails against Taunt, but this, aside from like, 3 moves, allows any monster, even Dodrio, to tank to infinity.
techno- well you can't tell them everything, cuz then they'll never learn on their own.
bob-movesets and EV builds vary with each pokemon. I'm not gonna type up a set for each individual pokemon. Also, if I make reccomendations as to which pokemon a person should use, they may never try experimenting and will likely be an average player. Take me for example. I used to only use sets I found on serebii.net. I won some battles and lost others. A few months ago I started trying new things, and now my current team is undefeated. Technically speaking anyway. There was one match I'd of lost if it weren't for a crit.
