Well, I've seen a LOT of reviews for games on this website, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Anyways, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is a game for the Playstation 2. The story, which takes place after Castlevania III, follows Hector, who used to be a devil forgemaster. If you don't know what that is, a devil forgemaster is one of Dracula's two highest-ranking followers. They can summon Innocent Devils and use them in battle. Hector stopped following Dracula after he started killing humans, and after Dracula is killed, the other devil forgemaster, Isaac, kills Hector's wife. Hector sets out for revenge on Isaac, and becomes almost as awesome as any member of the Belmont Clan.
As far as graphics go, this game was alright, especially for a PS2 game. The only problem I have is that Hector only opens his mouth during cutscenes, but he yells commands to his Innocent Devils all the time. Other than that, the graphics are great. The animation is smooth, the skins on surfaces are okay, and character design is fantastic.
This game also has some incredible gameplay. Set up in a three-dimensional world, this game focuses not so much on platforming as it does on dodging you opponents while landing as many hits as possible. A boss can take up to ten minutes. There is an item creation system that lets you use materials dropped by enemies to create weapons and armor. Innocent devils are also an interesting feature, which involves using certain weapons to make enemies drop colored crystals to make your innocent devils evolve in a branching path. There are 5 weapon types, each having their own advantages and disadvantages. The weapons you use can be either fast or slow, which leads to some problems with responsiveness, but overall the RPG elements flow together nicely. A major concern here is the constant need to grind dungeons, becauseit gets repetitive.
Overall, this game gets an 8 out of 10 for great graphics and good gameplay.
