Calm yourself, Ransomware is a type of Virus that holds your computer hostage.
A good ransomware program I've seen overwrites the MBR, (The Master Boot Record) Rendering the computer helpless, without a code.
Now while most are dinky little things that can be disabled by any smart person using Task Manager and MalwareBytes.

Anyway, Ransomware is a virus that takes note of your files, deletes the existing ones, and asks you for your credit card number because "The Feds are after you because of Pirated music" even though every song you have was bought on iTunes.
It will hijack your destop, shoot errors, scream, and do ANYTHING to get you, or your parents number.
II. Um... How can I protect myself...?

Keep your Updates updated, your Antivirus scanning, and don't download anything you don't trust the publisher of.

Meh, it's kind of obvious to notice, I saw rogueamp's video, and the icon was a WMV while it ended with .exe while it was supposed to end up with .wmv.
