You's all have your simple "bullet proof" plans of surviving an International outbreak such as this, but, truth be told it isn't that easy.

I'm sorry to break it to you but, although your pointless gadgets, do-dads, what-whats, endless kilos of AAA batterys, coffee machines and love machines seem relevant at the time, packing light is a must. Yes, that does mean the heaviest, tank-as all-hell gun you are planing to have is doing you more harm then good.

... you can't out run these fleshing eating corpses with endless amounts of crap on your back.

- Commonly over-looked LIGHT and EFFECTIVE house hold items are everywhere. -

I highly recommend your normal, everyday wire coat hanger. It has endless amounts of uses.

Always make sure you have a pocket tool. Mostly for quick repairs and setting up fires.

Another thing with endless amounts of uses that is commonly over looked are cotton balls. Dip them in some gas/petrol when you get the chance to. They come in handy, making for a quick starting fire.

And that's not all. Next time, when bored try and list other, non-intensional uses for items you use everyday.

Spoilt kids will weigh you down. While you're trying to save their ass, fighting off the living dead they're in the corner screaming for a Mars Bar. Which is obviously drawing more attention to you. Meaning more zombies.

Try advoiding overly populated places. The more populated the city you're adventuring into, the more people. The more people, the more infections. Meaning more Zombies.
