Hey guys! As many of you know, I am a huge fan of soundtracks. I've decided to write a few blogs about some games with unlooked soundtracks.
First Up:
LEGEND OF ZELDA:
SPIRIT TRACKS
Released: 2009
Platform: NDS
Why:
Spirit Tracks was the most immense handheld Zelda Game when it was released in 2009, but one of its most prominent aspects is overlooked far too often; the games soundtrack is an absolutely stunning masterpiece.
Music accompanies you everywhere in the game, you'll almost never be without it.
Many people may not realize how much music can effect a game. In Spirit Tracks, music is a key aspect of not only the story but of gameplay as well.
Overall there are 143 musical tracks in Spirit Tracks each one composed to fit the games atmosphere.
A good example of this is how the music changes when you shift speeds on the train; the musical track also shifts to that same speed.
Character music is also very well used, including a brief moment of forshadowing using a very dark track before Chancellor Cole's reveal.
As mentioned above, each track "fits" into its location/event fantastically.
Some of the most unique aspects inculde the ability to Play Songs with the Spirit Flute, adding music and gameplay into one.
Some of the most memorable tracks include:
Opening
Final Exam (first train ride to Castle)
Overworld Adventure (Train Theme)
Lokomo Duets
Bryne Comes To The Rescue/Bryne's Death (Pre-Final Boss)
Castle/Castle Town Theme
Link and Zelda Duet
Final Battle: Malladus
These tracks are some of the best in the Zelda Franchise and overall, I rate Spirit Track's Sounstrack just as high or higher than (fanboys enrage) Ocarina Of Time's.
Conclusion:
Spirit Tracks is a fantastic example of a soundtrack done right. The music is very catchy and many times you'll catch yourself humming them.
My Personal Favorite is Bryne's Rescue Theme, and has the best blend of Wind Instruments and an Orchestral Track.
