I started school today. The students aren't as bad as I had figured. Regular kids, I guess. Let me tell you about it.
The first class I had was English. Of course, the teacher was freaky, but whatever. I chose a seat in the back, because I hoped not to be noticed by anyone. That plan failed. Mrs. Hawkings, the teacher, called me up to introduce myself. All I said was my name and rushed to sit back down. She seemed real jittery and cautious. She looked out the window every three minutes for some odd reason. After class, a kid who sat a few rows in front of me said, "I hope you aren't a troublemaker. I hear detention sucks at this school. Some say the kids who go in never go back; It's like whatever in there was so bad they decided to change. See Thomas over there?" He pointed at a kid in a collared shirt and dress pants on. "He used to be the most feared kid in the school. Got detention once and never picked on a kid again." I looked confused and asked, "What's in there that would do that to them?" The kid, who I found out's name is Kyle, shrugged and walked off.
When the 3:00 bell rang I bolted out the classroom and tried to hurry to my bus. As I was walking, I heard something that caught my attention by the principal's office. "Fran it's fine. I've had no complaints or questions about it!" said the principal. "The bloody beast was angry! You don't feed 'im enough. No doubt the whole school heard his roar. And if it happens again?" said the woman named Fran. "Tell everyone it's a plumbing issue. Ah, yes. That'll do it. The pipes are in the Undergrounds anyways, people should believe it!" said my principal. As I saw a shadow approach the door, I hid behind a wall. My chemistry teacher left the office angrily, throwing her hands in the air. I had to leave before I missed the bus home.
When I got home I thought long and hard about the conversation I had overheard. What beast? What were they talking about? My assumptions were right. This school is weird...
