To:Â Nintendo of America
Dear Nintendo of America,
(the conduit 2) Many people in the gaming community are looking upon this game as an attempt to bring the hard-core gaming crowd back into the fold. Where Microsoft has Halo and Playstation has Metal Gear Solid, many hardcore fans feel that The Conduit has the potential to set new and ever higher standards for First Person Shooters. These hardcore fans- the ones who supported and helped build up the Nintendo fanbase in an age when gaming seemed doomed to arcade halls- are troubled by one fact however: the Friend Code.
It undoubtedly is in your understanding that the Friend Code system is one that is unique to Nintendo, and Nintendo has therefore gotten some criticism for it's system. Many Nintendo fans cannot understand why XBox360 gamers are enjoying open gaming lobbies and matchmaking that allows gamers to communicate across the globe, why must Nintendo gamers be limited to those they have made previous contact with? Your concern for child safety is admirable, but many gamers feel that the Friend Code is one measure too many. Your wii speak peripheral itself promotes child safety, as the gamers vocal interactions are subject to more than the ear of the gamer. Also, the gamer is only speaking to those who are playing in game, not communicating in any other way. We the gamers are not asking for anything more than the removal of friend codes so we can play with anyone without restrictions- not a console to console matchmaking service.
Obviously, there are some risks to voice chat. A gamer may release personal information, or say offensive or discrminating remarks. However, it should not be the job of Nintendo to monitor the remarks of all these gamers by implementing friend codes. If the gamer is underage, it should be the job of the parent to assure that proper conduct is in place while gaming. These friend codes are only hurting the hard core gamers who are both responsible and in search of a more personable gaming experience. Therefore, we are asking simply for the removal of Friend Codes from future Nintendo Wi-Fi games, including The Conduit. Not only will this bring back hard core fans to the Nintendo brand, but it will also keep Nintendo up to speed with online gaming, a fast growing trend that seems to dominate the video game market.
If the goal of this petition is not under your personal jurisdiction, we ask that you do not discard this letter. Instead, please pass it on to someone or some group that is better suited to meet our request. We hope that this petition may show that Nintendo fans are loyal and true, but also would like a more thurough wifi experience.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Dsipaint.com ( THE BIGGEST DSI COMPATIBLE SITE IN THE WORLD)
It's the choice of most developers to stick with friend codes but Nintendo is the main example for many other developers. Nintendo can make the infamous friend code disappear in future games and others will follow.
HAVE THE OPTION IN ALL GAMES TO OPT FOR CLASSIC CONTROLLER
The new Monster Hunter Tri, I've looked at it and they've seemed to have nailed it. 200 player lobbies, No Wii-Speak restrictions, USB Keyboard compatible and NOT AN FC IN SIGHT. All hail Capcom.
