"You are the princess,
I am the servant."
A very, very long time ago, two twin cats were born into the royal family of a far-away nation...
(Keep in mind that the story is almost esactly the same, only this is told from SOLAR'S piont of view. :3)
The day Solar was separated from his sister Lunar was probably the best and worst day of his life. The separation gave Solar a chance to educate himself out in the country, to sharpen himself up so that he might properly serve his sister when they grew. Solar, during those years of being away from Lunar, had never forgotten her or their happy, careless days as young cats.
Now, fourteen years old, Solar had decided that today was the day he would go back to serve his sister.
As the carriage neared the great palace, Solar quickly tried to recollect his memories of the royal house. He found next to none besides his memories of his sister.
With him in the carriage was the maid who had taken him away that day. Ironically she was the one bringing him back.
The carriage suddenly jerked to a stop in front of the palace doors as Solar was remembering these things.
"Is this the place?" Solar asked the maid as he stared up at the great golden palace before him.
"Yes, sir," she responded. "I believe you'll find more of what you're looking for inside." With that, she walked away without a word.
"Well, let's hope that all that studying has paid off," Solar muttered under his breath. Many questions were buzzing in his mind even now: Would Lunar still remember him? Would they ever go back to the way they were before? Would she just treat him as a simple servant?
"No, of course not," Solar thought. "She'd remember me."
The cat slowly stepped in through the wide castle doors and waited patiently for the princess.
Just then, a loud, blasting voice echoed down the golden hall.
"Bring him in!!!" it yelled.
Solar was dragged by armored guards to the door of the throne, where they dropped him down for his appointment with Princess Lunar.
Solar dared not look, for he was almost starting to believe that it was too good to be true, that it was not his sister who was sitting on the throne.
He was half right.
"Milady," Solar started. "I would like to serve you to my highest degree of loyalty. Please permit me." Solar thought he sensed a flinch of familiarity from the princess, but he couldn't be too sure. His head was bowed down.
"Very well, then," the princess said haughtily. "But be loyal. Now, what is your name?"
So she didn't remember him. Well, it would take more than that to discourage the brave Solar. He would stop at nothing to serve and protect his dear sister. Solar looked up and steeled his expression to face his sister.
"I am Solar and I shall serve only you, milady."
Days then months flew by, and the two had become quite close like siblings again, and one morning Lunar sent Solar on an errand to the neighboring country of green. At the town square, while Solar was trying to figure out his sister's scribbly handwriting, his hat was carried away by the blustery wind. Solar looked up from his note and saw that his hat had been rescued by a beautiful she-cat with a lovely green pelt and leek symbols imprinted on her forehead and chest. Solar felt himself blush, and his thought went briefly erratic. Should he go up to her or...?
As Solar buried his head in the note, trying to remain unnoticed, he heard steps coming towards him.
"Excuse me, is this yours?" said the nicest and kindest voice Solar had ever heard.
"Um, yes, that's...mine," Solar stuttered.
"Oh, I think the wind blew it away. Here you are. By the way, my name is Spring."
"I'm Solar," he responded as he grabbed the hat back. Then another voice called Spring away. Solar peeked over Spring's shoulder and saw Winter, the prince of the blue country. Winter was also the cat Lunar was in love with, but knowing how badly Lunar treated the people, Solar assumed that Winter did not love Lunar back.
"Oh, excuse me, Solar. I have to go. Goodbye, and I hope we meet again!" Spring said as she ran back to Winter.
It was obvious even to Solar that Spring and Winter were in love, and Solar began to blush again.
"I think I'm in love," he muttered to himself.
When Solar arrived back at the palace after finishing Lunar's errand, He crept to her room and heard her talking to her minister. When Lunar mentioned the green country, Solar's ears perked up. He started to listen in on the conversation. The two were talking about destroying the country!
Then Lunar's voice became louder. "Where is Solar? Bring him to me!"
"Here, milady," Solar called, tentatively stepping into her quarters.
"I need you to do me a favor. But first, I believe it's time for a snack."
Ah, snack time for the princess. Every day at this hour Lunar would ask for a snack in the garden, and Solar would see to it that her appetite was suppressed. Now as the two ate quietly in the garden, Lunar suddenly said: "Hey, Solar."
"Yes, milady?" Solar sensed something was about to go wrong.
"Remember that favor I asked of you earlier?"
"Yes?" he asked carefully.
"Come here and let me tell you want I want."
As Solar stepped closer so Lunar could whisper her order in his ear, his eyes widened at the command.
"Kill Spring, the daughter of green."
Solar felt tears begin to fall.
"Y-yes, milady. I will answer your wish."
"Very good, Solar! Now we should continue eating."
"As you wish, milady."
That afternoon in his own room, Solar wrote a letter to Spring, asking her to meet him at the well in the back of the green country that night. She received the letter quickly, and when Solar arrived, tears were streaming down his eyes as he thought of the knife he carried.
"What's wrong, Solar?" Spring questioned. "Are you alright?"
"Forgive me" was all he said as he, in one fluid motion, stabbed Spring.
"It's okay," Spring murmured softly to Solar. "It's okay. I loved you too."
At this point the tears wouldn't stop flowing from Solar's eyes. He ran all the way back to the palace to face Lunar.
Winter had been wandering everywhere in the green country trying to find Spring, but no one knew where she was. When he stopped at the well, he squinted his eyes because he swore he saw blood on it.
"Spring?..."
No. She couldn't be. Spring couldn't be...
Dead...
Winter ran from the green country to the small town of red, where it was said the greatest swordswoman mercenary lived. Winter found her at the bar, talking to the bartender.
"Crimson," he called.
Winter and Crimson teamed up that night and devised a plan to lay siege on the Daughter of Evil.
Solar stared out the window of the great hall of the castle mournfully. Soon the kingdom would fall in ruin - the revolution had already begun and he was watching from the window.
The army of the princess, already tired from the green war, could only hold out for so long, and then...
Solar suddenly had an idea.
In one book he had read about a potion one could make that would switch the pelt colors of the two who drank it. Solar immediately set to work, brewing up the potion.
Later that night, Solar offered tea to Lunar before bed, laced with the potion. As she began to get drowsy due to side effects, she asked: "What's in here, Solar?"
Solar gazed at his sister for a while before quietly explaining to her that when the angry people come to capture her, he would take her place instead. Lunar would have to run far away to another country.
"No, Solar!" Lunar weakly shouted. "I will not give up my country...
"Why would you do that anyway?"
"Don't worry," Solar said as his sister began to close her eyes. "We're twins. No one will notice."
Lunar suddenly felt a deep sorrow in her. Of course! Solar was her twin...
Solar woke Lunar up very early the next day. "Hurry, sister. You have to run." The potion had already taken effect, and no one could tell that the twins were reversed.
Now at three o'clock, Solar would be executed in the place of his sister. Lunar bolted from the castle as Crimson locked Solar in the guillotine.
Solar looked out toward the crowd, and then he smiled as he saw Lunar there.
Flashing a grin, he proclaimed: "Oh, time for snack."
The blade fell, and as Lunar looked up to where her brother was, she began to cry.
