This is a continuation of my first blog. In this post I would like to talk about the media mostly. When I say media, I'm talking about television ads, posters, ads on Youtube, news stations, movies, movie trailers, tv shows, and pretty much any other daily or weekly entertainment or commercialism. Now, don't get me wrong, I love movies and television. It's just that sometimes the world makes things too fake. Mostly every commercial has some type of 3d or colorful logo or something that kind of makes you think "Wow, that's cool." Well, it's not. Making things look cool is just part of selling a product, but we've gotten to the point where there's so many things to buy, you don't really need to know that a new brand exists. Or that there's a 30% off sale at a store. If you really cared, you would go see for yourself. Not wait to see the newest advertisement about it. I know that companies pay for slots of time in between programs, and that the only way certain products are sold is by television, but seriously. We've come to the point in time where you can practically buy anything you want from the comfort of your living room. All people need now is a computer with internet access. I also hate how there's all those commercials about food. It's bad enough that every country believes America is full of fat people. Why do we need advertisements for weight loss and Doritos? It's so fake. Weight loss only happens if you want it to. Not by eating certain diets. Then right after the Weight Watchers commercial goes off, a Digorno's pizza thing comes on. It makes me sigh at the fact that 70% of television is all about food, cars, phones, and stupid dramas. Which brings me to my next subject: TV shows. I don't really watch that many shows because most of them are just boring dramas or long running series that don't entertain like they used to. Back in the 80's there were plenty of good shows. Now, the only shows I can say are very good, are on Netflix. Not many current series are well made. Person of Interest was only interesting for about three episodes. Series like Lost, Heroes, Stargate Universe (Now cancelled) and Monk were all very good shows that I actually watched all the way and wish were still on. Now, the only show I seem to be watching at all is Touch. It's not as interesting as the others, but it's ok. The River looked promising, but then it turned into an even more fake "shakey camera" series than Paranormal Activity. So, why does TV suck right now? Is it because writers ran out of ideas for now? Is it because I'm bad at watching the good shows? Is it because nobody cares about what's on TV? Well, maybe a little bit of all of those reasons, but I think it's because our world is being consumed by technology and fakeness. Everyone today in America lives in a poor economy. Everyone is trying to make a living. Nobody really cares about TV shows or advertisements when they come home from work. I think the media knows this, and tries to make stupid things appear on TV because then they don't have to really work to make actual entertainment. I'm not saying all television is run by one source. I'm saying that everything that's on TV has kind of slowed down with the economy. Nothing is as interesting and exciting as it used to be. Entertainment is part of human society. We need it. I think that in order for us to have a better economy we need quality entertainment. Not fake CGI-filled commercials and stupid adult cartoons. People have taken technology way too far and have forgotten how to make quality films, shows, and advertisements. While using CGI in things to make them look better is fun, it's not always best. I'm going to leave this post off with one last sentence. Too much of a new thing can lead to a numbing of sensation and lack of need or want for that thing.
