(It's been a while since I've posted anything, or even been on, rather. I hope this appeases the most likely decreasing fans of my work.)
The rainbow that eases the stormy day
Will be there when they come to take me away.
For without joy, there are no tears,
And without safety, there are no fears.
When I go on to greater things
I'll remember when I wanted wings
To touch the sky and be so proud,
To no longer be bound to just the ground,
Gills to breathe beneath the blue,
Swimming farther and deeper than true,
Eyes to see within the dark,
Blows that could hit any mark,
Feet so nimble, sly, and quick
And skin, to anything, would stick,
The will to have what I want as mine,
But never to live farther than time.
The day I leave, just as I came,
Naked, needing, just the same.
My eyes will close, my dreams will dye
To black, the color of the sky,
Gliding down to fly no more,
Washing upon the golden shore
Clumsy, blind, drowning, flat
Upon my back, that day at last
Has left me only with a light
That has never been such a beautiful white.
I see the blues, I see the things,
Of purples, oranges, yellows, reds, and greens,
The rainbow, at last has come,
To see the day that I'll be gone.
The hands, they lift me up,
So very careful not to drop me
Back to life, from whence I came,
And where I shall never go again.
