I welcome you with this fantastic blog from ol' ShinyUnderpants! so dragoart is a painting website here is my review: Of the art websites around the Internet that attempts to lead budding artists astray from the right way to draw, DragoArt.com probably takes the spotlight in the “Art websites you must avoid” award. Not only are the tutorials really rigid and vague, they seem to promote tracing from original concept art from Disney as a practice regime, and how far do artists can go when they trace to draw? Nowhere, Yeah i enjoyed the artistic paintings on the site just to see.



The colors of the website is a horrendous clash of red and blue; two contrasting colors that only appear on comic-book heroes like Superman. As an added bonus, both colors are so saturated that a pastel-colored girly combination doesn’t even look half as bad. The site’s navigation is listed on the top panel and the real bugger is that there are big ads placed right below the navigation bar, thus greatly reducing the site’s professionalism. It also happens to be the first thing you see as you look into the website, which is very irksome STUPID. Moreover, some may have a harder time looking around the different categories lined to the left of the website because the size of the text is astoundingly small. You’ll probably need to zoom into the webpage about three times larger in order to at least read the words without sticking your face into the screen.

Admittedly, their tutorials are not best tailored to those who do not like the “follow the line strokes the way I do and it will look good like the final product” type of learning. There are a few tutorials that can help some artists, but some are vague, jumping from Point B to D within a single step, which will confuse budding artists. For other people who can jump in and draw by observing and then drawing what they see, the tutorials are pretty redundant, and it's no joke that there’s actually a tutorial on how to draw a mathematical symbol - Pi. The website has also been criticized of taking concept art and then making a line-by-line tutorial, which doesn’t even take into account the whole anatomy of some of these characters that they draw. Most of the artists would usually draw variations of the different body parts of an anthropomorphic character, but to draw the whole thing, you’ll have to figure out how to flesh them yourself, as they would usually draw lines for a skeleton. It’s either that, or you could just trace from the tutorial in order to make sure that your final product really looks like the one in the tutorial. “Shortcut” I have never used the words and now im tired of using them! ^-^ -Shiny
