I have learned a lot of techniques to keeping my hair healthy and beautiful. You should have the same, so I am sharing my secrets with you. Enjoy

Brushing:
Brush or comb hair no more than twice a day.
Always hold hair at the upper half when brushing to prevent from pulling it out at the root.
Always brush hair starting at the end and working your way up to the root.
You can put a little olive oil on the bristles.
If you have a tangle that is tough to get out, dont yank.
Try to use your fingers to gently remove the tangle, and continue brushing.

Oily, oily, oily:
Its best not to touch your hair throughout the day, due to oils from your skin and possible food oils from meals.
Wash hands often to prevent those oils from your hands getting to your hair and making it greasy faster.
Make sure hair dries away from the forehead area, so the oil from your skin doesnt get onto your hair and make it look greasy.
Also so the oil from your hair doesnt get on your face and promote acne.
More or less just keep hair out of face.
If your hair is looking a little greasy, apply a little baby powder, but not too much that it makes your hair look white and powdery.

Get a trim!:
Get a trim every 2-3 months, and never do it yourself, go to a salon.
You want to make sure it is even and that you didnt miss anything or cut anything off that you didnt want to.

Stay healthy:
Maintain general health: eat right, sleep well, and exercise regularly.
Balance your diet.
Eat alot of fruits, veggies, other healthy nutrients, and drink alot of water.
Eat lots of proteins (lean meat, fish, eggs, beans, nuts, soy products).
Eat enough iron and zinc (peanut butter, lean meat, crab, poultry, pumpkin seeds, cereal, bread, pasta) to avoid hair loss, anemia, etc.
Vitamins such as A, D, E & K are good for hair growth.
Get plenty of vitamin C (citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, peppers) to keep your hair from becoming dull, dry, and weak.
Your body uses vitamin C to create collagen which is necessary for new hair cells.
Vitamin B (seafood, whole grains, soybean products, lean dairy, lean meats, bananas, potatos with skin, peas, broccoli) prevents hair loss.
Get the right amount of fat in diet, dont cut it out.
Focus on unsaturated fats and fatty acids.

Showering/Bathing:
Dont wash hair every day, more like every 2-3 days.
Brush hair before shower, comb after.
Hair is extra stretchy and more prone to damage when wet.
If you take a shower in the morning, rub olive oil in it from root to end, the night before & leave it in until the morning.
If you take a shower at night, do it an hour before your shower.
Shampoo once or twice (whichever you prefer) and use warm water, not hot.
Hot water will damage your hair and strip it of its natural oils necessary for healthier hair.
Be gentle while shampooing and use about the size of a quarter or more depending on how much hair you have.
Always use conditioner after shampooing.
Wring out wet hair (gently), and apply conditioner to the bottom half of your hair avoiding roots.
Gently comb through the hair (with conditioner already applied)
Wrap it in a towel that you heated on top of a radiator for five minutes and wait five minutes.
Or skip that part, just wait five minutes, but wash body or shave while waiting.
Rinse out the conditioner with cool to cold water to seal the hair shafts and lock in moisture.
Once a week do a deep conditioning.. leaving it in for 15 minutes instead of 5.
Leavein conditioners are a good idea.
After shower, never rub hair with a towel.
Just gently wrap it.
If you choose to take a bath, dont use the bath water to rinse your hair, use a shower head.
Its ok to soak your hair in the bath water, though.

Steer clear:
Use no heat, such as blow dryers, hot curlers, straighteners, curling irons, crimpers, etc.
Use no product, such as hairspray, mousse, gel, etc.
Use no chemicals, such as dyeing, perming, etc.
Stay away from any product with silicone.
Thats the same glue used to glue your bathroom tiles together.
Do you really want that in your hair?

Avoid breakage:
Do not use rubber bands in your hair, as these pull on the strands and cause breakage.
Use ponytails with a fabric coating, etc.
Avoid tight hairstyles: cornrows, tight ponytails, etc.
Put hair in loose hairstyles, like buns, etc.

Choosing your S&C:
Get shampoo and conditioner without sodium lauryl sulfate or ammonium laureth sulfate, or any sulfate detergents.
Look for shampoos with natural and organic ingredients.
Avoid non organic chemicals whenever possible.
Avoid shampoos and conditioners containing alcohol and artificial coloring and scents.
Shampoos thats suds up may seem like its doing a better job, but the best shampoos are the ones that dont.

Frizz control:
Sleep with a silk night cap or silk pillowcase (if possible) to prevent "overnight frizz".
Too much chlorine can make hair dry and frizzy.
Dont spray hair with water during the day.. it invites frizz.

Other tips:
Occasionally massage scalp to get the blood flowing.
Avoid stress (emotional or physical) because its one cause of hair loss.
