This is basically just a better battery pak for 3DS, and it can be found pretty cheap these days (I got mine for $5). There isn't much to say about it, so let's make this brief.
SETUP: The process is fairly simple (comes with a mini screwdriver). Unscrew the back of your 3DS, remove the battery pak, put the PowerPak+ in and screw it in. Note that the screwdriver is incredibly small, as are the screws, and those who lack dexterity are NOT going to enjoy the whole process, and probably will struggle a bit. I am in that group, but overall, it wasn't much of a hassle at all.
EXTERIOR:
Let's get this straight. THIS THING IS UGLY AS CRAP. When put against the Aquamarine 3DS, the black color contrasts with the 3DS in a somewhat jarring manner, and the design of the battery means it will make the 3DS quite a bit bulkier. The grip at first may feel awkward, but you'll soon warm up to it.
FINALLY, ACTUAL PRODUCT USE:
Okay, I don't have the time to actually do an accurate test on how long the battery lasts, but overall, on highest setting and playing only 3DS games with 3D on, the battery lasted a little less then 6 hours, nearly double that of the regular battery. When playing on lower brightness without 3D, you can probably last a good 9-10 hours. So for the price, and the sacrifice of an appealing look, the device does do it's purported job well (double the battery life). Note that when you change the battery, you must change the date and time again.
OUR EXCITING CONCLUSION:
I can't really score an accessory out of 10. It's a freaking battery! So I'll just answer the following compound question: Is the Nyko PowerPak+ completely functional and is it worth the asking price? The box claims that the device will double your playtime, and from my estimates, it does the job well. Is it worth the asking price, though? At the original cost of $15, I'm not so sure. However, these days, they can go for as little as $5 plus any applicable tax, so unless the bulky design makes you want to gouge your eyes out, or you have giant hands and have nobody to help you, then I'd say go for it.
Very poor review imo. There are more reviews ON THIS SITE with battery tests. Review was short and uninformative. If I didn't already have one, I'm not sure whether to buy it or not.
If it's been a blog before, I think it should not be accepted.
May I put this review on the review list under the category "accessories" ? To confirm your permission, please leave a message on my wall, or post on the review list blog itself. Thank you!
Cough cough. Weegee8 already made a review on this exact same thing, which was not only longer but was actually only written like three weeks ago. But, good blog, regardless.
