Zelda Ura, also written as Ura Zelda, literally means "Another Zelda". So, what's Ura Zelda?

Well, to explain Ura, we'll have to look at Nintendo during '96-98. You see, Shigeru Miyamoto had a grand vision for a fantastic Zelda that would take advantage of the N64 Disk Drive that was being developed at the time.

This game was originally called Zelda 64, and it was going to do things that were unbelievable for its time. If you walked in the desert, your footprints would stay in the sand until you did something to get rid of them. If you broke a pot, it would stay broken. These, and many other things would be accomplished with the extra memory and rewritable disks of the N64DD.

Unfortunately, due to the extreme delay and poor reception of the N64 Disk Drive, Nintendo decided to downgrade Zelda 64 into what we now know as Ocarina of Time. Nintendo still had plans for the N64DD and Zelda, though.

Nintendo decided to make an expansion for Ocarina of Time, to complete what they felt was an incomplete Zelda 64. This expansion was known as Zelda Ura. Ura was going to provide a new quest, with a new overworld, new and remixed dungeons, and more items and sidequests.

Npt much is actually known about Zelda Ura but, by digging through unused code, hackers have found that there is code directly indicating Ura. For instance, there if a logo for it stored in the game that is loaded if the cartidge detects a Disk Drive. Other things have been found with the 'disk drive code' running, such as certain characters moving erratically. Also, there has been a completely scripted Arwing (the ships from Star Fox) in the Debug ROM. No one really knows what this was actually for.

Eventually, Ura was dropped, supposedly due to a lack of interest, but it has been said that Ura was actually fully complete. Weird, huh?
