Here I was in Ecruteak City. This city was... Odd. And eventful. Especially at the Burned Tower. There, I got to see the Legendary Trio of the region. Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. They all left as soon as I climbed down the ladder to the bottom floor. But, I noticed something odd. Just as Suicune was leaving, she stopped in front of me. She looked like she was looking me over... But she fled as soon as I could get a good look at her. But, now was no time for legends, as I was about to challenge the Gym.
The Gym Leader's name was Morty. He used Ghost-type Pokemon. The gym had an especially spooky quality. The lights were severly dimmed, and I could only see a few feet in front of me. There were two torches that burned blue in the distance, and I could only assume that was where Morty resided. Sure enough, as I approached, he was there. "Hello, Star..." He grinned. Creepy, he knew my name. I guess that one guy at the entrance to the gym told him. Still, it made the gym that much more creepy. "That's my name," I said. "You ready?" Morty nodded. "Go, Ghastly!" Morty threw his Pokeball, sending out his Ghastly. "Go, Prince Kai!" I sent out the new and improved Prince Kai. He had evolved eariler that day in to a Togetic. He was much stronger now.
"Ghastly, use Lick!" Ghastly stuck his tounge out, and floated towards Haunter with blinding speed. "Prince Kai, use Extrasensory!" As Ghastly charged toward Prince Kai, he released a strong psychic wave of energy towards the floating head. It fidgeted wildly, before flying to the ground. Ghastly stumbled a few times before landing at Morty's feet, dead. I expected a tear, but instead, he grinned. "Very nice work, Star." He said as he returned his now dead Ghastly. He didn't even look sad! Who could be so heartless?
"Go, Haunter." He sent his Haunter out. Haunter roared loudly, ready for battle. "Haunter, use Hypnosis!" Haunter disappeared suddendly. Prince Kai began to panic. He looked around wildly, looking for Haunter. Haunter then appeared directly in front of Prince Kai, releasing a wave of psychic energy. The wave hit Prince Kai, and he fell over. "Getic..." Prince Kai slept soundly. I had used sleep inducing moves before, but never before have I experienced the panic that they cause the trainer. "Prince Kai!" I shouted. "Haunter, use Dream Eater!" Haunter started absorbing Prince Kai's life energy. Prince Kai stirred. Dream Eater was causing nightmares. "Stop!" I quickly looked in my bag, searching for something awaken Prince Kai. I had nothing. However, I had something else that would come in handy. I ran over to Prince Kai, and sprayed him with a Super Potion quickly. I ran back to the trainers area, hoping he would wake up soon. "Haunter, Dream Eater!" Haunter, again, absorbed Prince Kai's life energy. I gulped.
Haunter continued to absorb Prince Kai's energy. Slowly, but surely, he was dying. I prayed him to wake up. "Haunter, use Curse!" Haunter suddendly stopped, floating away from Prince Kai a few feet. Then, a nail started peircing Haunter's head. It was a horrific site, and Haunter was obviously hurt by it. Prince Kai stopped stirring, and became rigid in fear. Whatever Haunter was doing, it was effecting Prince Kai's dreams even more terribly. "Wake up!!!" I screamed. "Haunter, Dream Eater!" Hanter again, absorbed Prince Kai's life. Then, Prince Kai opened his eyes. "EXTRASENSORY!" I commanded. Prince Kai took advantage of the close quarters he had with the Haunter, and released another psychic energy field at Haunter. Just as Ghastly did before it, Haunter shook wildly, and then flew towards the ground. He hit hard. One of his floating hands twitched. It was apparent that the Haunter had died.
Morty returned his Pokemon, a little surprised at how easily this angelic Pokemon had killed his Pokemon. "No matter," Morty shook his head. "Go, Gengar!" Gengar entered the battlefield. Gengar, out of the three Pokemon Morty had, was truly terrifying. Then, I noticed Prince Kai stumble. I realized that Curse was hurting him bad, and he wouldn't be able to take out Gengar. "Prince Kai, return!" I held my Pokeball, returning him to it. "Go, Mystie!" I sent out Mystie, my Stantler. She was new to the team, but incredibly powerful. She was also a Normal-Type, and was unaffected by Ghost-Type attacks. This would be useful for the battle.
"Gengar, use Mean Look!" Gengar's eyes glowed red, and Mystie flinched in fear. "Mystie, use Hypnosis!" The orbs on Mystie's antlers started to pulsate with a bright purple color. Then, Mystie released a pulse of psychic energy toward Gengar. Gengar, however, sunk in to the floor, avoiding the attack. "Gengar, use Hypnosis!" Gengar rose through the floor again, behind Mystie. Gengar touched her leg lightly, and Mystie slumped over, asleep. Oh, no... Not with the sleep again. And what's worse, Gengar's Mean Look wouldn't let me switch out. Great.
Mystie snored lightly. It was a little cute, but the ambience of the gym and a scary Ghost Pokemon standing over her eliminated the adorablness of the moment completely. "Gengar, use-" Morty stopped. "Uhm... Aren't you going to attack?" I asked. "I'd love to, but..." He stopped again, and gasped. The scene had completely reversed. Gengar was now sleeping while Mystie stood above him. "Mystie, Astonish!" Mystie's antlers glowed again. She rammed them in to Gengars side, being supported by a ghostly energy. "Again!" Mystie obeyed, stabbing Gengar once more. "Gengar, wake up!" I heard Morty yell. He had a hint of worry in his voice. I guess he did have feelings for his Pokemon after all... Then, as Mystie continued to jab Gengar with her horns, he awoke. "Gengar, use Hypnosis!" Gengar grabbed one of Mysties antlers this time, and she slumped over, asleep.
"Why won't you attack?" I asked Morty. He shook his head. "I don't actually have any moves that would effect your Stantler." He said. Wow, are you kidding me!? Did he just say what I think he said? What an embarassment! Mystie awoke, and rose to her feet. "Astonish!" Mystie jabbed Gengar in the gut. He doubled over. "Mystie, finish it!" Morty gasped as Mystie charged Gengar one final time and lodged her antlers in to Gengar. She picked him up, and flung him to the wall. Gengar hit the wall hard, then tumbled to the ground, dead.
Morty gasped. I couldn't believe it either. How could one come so unprepared in to a battle like this? I didn't know, and didn't care either. "... Fine. Good work, Star. Now, for my final Pokemon. Go, Haunter!" Really? Another one? That was odd. No matter. I returned Stantler. "Go, Geos!" I sent out my Croconaw. Geos had earned a very vicious reputation from my last gym battle, where he mauled a Miltank to death. But, Geos would finish this battle less painfully then the last... I hoped.
"Haunter, use Night Shade!" The room suddenly became darker than it was before. Haunter waved his hand back and forth, gathering the darkness in the room. Then, he sent it as a wave of energy towards Geos. It hit, but Geos was unharmed by the attack. "Geos, Bite!" Geos lunged towards Haunter and latched on to it with his jaws. Haunter screeched in pain, a ghostly screech like that of a horror movie. Geos had clamed down hard. He dragged Haunter down to the floor. As soon as his feet hit the floor, Geos slammed Haunter on to the battlefield. Geos unclamped his jaws. Haunter was dead.
Morty looked down, ashamed. This was truly an embarrasing battle for the alleged "Master of Spirits". I returned Geos, and walked slowly towards Morty. I stopped in front of him and held out my hand. "Can I have my badge now?" I asked him. "... Yes, of course." He reached in to his pouch and handed me my badge. "Now go." Morty commanded. I left without protest...

True story. The only damaging move that Morty's Gengar knew was Sucker Punch, but he never got a chance to use it because of Mystie being asleep. I lawled so hard when I found this out.
