Greetings, Paint community! It's been too long. Sadly, due to personal events and a series of inabilities to log on, my activity on Paint has been heavily limited. Since I have a few hours to kill today, I figured I might self-promote a bit. Since my departure, I have assembled a team of programmers and modelers, and as a team we have begun heavy development on a new game: it will be co-released for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux distributions. While the project's final name is still up for discussion by my team, we will temporarily refer to it as Seasons in the Abyss (or SITA) in homage to Jeff Hanneman, guitarist for metal band Slayer, who recently passed away. With all reasoning aside, I will now delve into detail of the game.
So, the core behind SITA is a typical first-person shooter. You'll have your guns and things of the like, but we have quite a bit more in store for those who hate the generic FPS formula as much as we do. For instance, we will perfectly blend gunplay and melee combat together and allow complete freedom of choice on how you take down your enemy. You could go through hordes of enemies guns blazing if you feel inclined, or you can stay silent, assassinating individual people with knives and swords and clubs and things of the like. Or you could run into an army of people performing flashy finishers with a blade, blocking bullets by slicing them in half, and feeling like the ultimate badass in the process while still offering a steady challenge for those who would rather not breeze through a game without breaking a sweat. We want melee to not feel like a last resort, but rather a preferred play style alongside gunplay.
Development has been incredibly heavy as of time of writing. We will use the Unity 3D engine (therefore, ports to iOS, Android, and Adobe Flash may be a possibility in the future). This is our first major project at Entegrasoft Studios, so progress will be slow but thorough. Our budget will be small, a few hundred dollars at most (we spent over $3000 on the engine itself), but we will make every penny count. We do not have an expected release date at this time, but we will be sure that progress will be reported as important finalized details pour out. Our expected price will be anywhere from free to $5. Donations after release will be accepted.
So, that about covers it. If you would like to visit the game's Facebook page, we have one made already (this is where screenshots will be uploaded). You can find it here:

Thanks for all support that you may supply. Realistic suggestions in the comments would be phenomenal. Until later details pour out, I'll see you all next time.
Play Red Steel 2 for Wii. I know you probably don't want to hear that. But the same style gameplay (shoot a gun or slice a sword) can be found in that game. Obviously you are doing it differently... but hey, why not?

I have played through Red Steel 2, and I must say I haven't quite thought of the two as similar until now. Red Steel 2 forced you to use a Katana in a lot of ways, and firearms are more of side-thought for combat (yes, you could do either, but everyone felt more inclined to cut people up opposed to fill them with lead). SITA will preferably add a little flexibility into the formula, where you feel just as comfortable with a blade as with a pistol or assault rifle.
