How do you like your movies? With intersting plots, or likeable characters? Why do I ask this? Because, we're going to be reviewing a movie that doesn't exhibit any of this. This movie goes entirely for shock value.
This movie doesn't really have much of a plot, and no characters. Just actors, no real personalities at all. Sure, it's fitting for the style of the movie (Snuff), but it's still nice to have characters, to make the effect a little stronger.
Oh, and this movie was made in Japan. A shock movie that was made in Japan. That's a really good sign there. So with that, let's begin a plot overview. I don't want to spoil the movie too much for those who plan on watching it. So I'll just keep it simple
The movie stars two anonymous kidnappers, and an anonymous woman who's being tortured.
SPOILER ALERT
Torture Method 1: Repeatedly Slapping the woman in the face for at least 4 hours
Torture Method 2: Kicking the woman repeatedly as she tries to get up off of the floor
Torture Method 3: Spinning her in a chair for a long time, then giving her alcohol and spinning her more, until she vomited (Emetophobics, stay away)
Torture Method 4: Pinching her knuckle, and inside of her elbow
Torture Method 5: Ripping out her fingernail
Torture Method 6: Subjecting her to loud noise for 20 hours.
Torture Method 7: Burning her elbow with liquids of 70 and 150 degrees Celsius (About 150 and 300 Fahernheit)
Torture Method 8: Throwing Leeches onto her while she sleeps
Torture Method 9: Throwing organs onto her while she sleeps
Torture Method 10: Cutting into her hand, making it bleed, and then smashing her hand with a hammer
Torture Method 11: Sticking a needle into the side of her head, making her eye bleed, and slowly extracting it
I honestly feel like I have PTSD as I have uncontrollable anxiety white writing this. This movie is torture itself to watch. Not only are the blood effects extremely realistic, it's absolutely scary. I felt nauseous the whole time while watching it, and I was desperately hoping I didn't throw up afterwords. This movie is quite an ordeal. Oh yeah, she dies eventually. The movie doesn't tell you, but eventually she stops screaming. In the beginning, she takes pain amazing. Being slapped for three hours, she doesn't wince, or even make any expression of pain. She just eventually spits some blood. When having her fingernail ripped out, she only winces, doesn't scream or cry. Being subjected to loud noise, she does scream, quite a bit.
This is an absolutely horrible movie to watch. Surely this movie isn't for enjoyment, unless you have Antisocial Personality Disorder (The disorder that classifies you as a Psychopath or Sociopath). In fact, this should be a APD test. I can't emphasize something like "DO NOT WATCH THIS, EVER.", because that's like putting a note in front of you and telling you not to read it, even though it has your name on it.
This movie felt like torture to watch. I did not want to watch the movie, and I was constantly watching the timer on the Youtube video, hoping in vain it would finally end. The torture you watch is absolutely horrible and disgusting to watch, and can absolutely make you afraid of being kidnapped. If I'm ever kidnapped, the first thing I'd think of is me being the woman in the movie. Don't worry if you can't find an English version of the movie. There's no dialogue, and the movie doesn't focus on plot. The blood effects are really convincing, and they look entirely realistic. I found myself questioning the authenticity of the snuff content, until I realized a real snuff film would not have the professional lighting quality this movie had. Everything contributing to the movie's realism was done correctly, and adding layers of fear and shock to the movie. Most reviews of this movie had given it low ratings, discriminating it for it's disturbing factor. But, the movie wasn't going for plot, or story. It wasn't taking the route of the traditional movie. It was taking it's own approach. Everything the movie needed emphasized for shock purposes was emphasized to the extreme. It did an excellent job of what it was trying to do. If you think you can handle the psychological torture of killing someone, watch this 40 minute movie and only then can you claim you're capable.
40% Rating (100% Max). Way too severe, and way too disturbing. Realism was extreme, no explosions, or special effects needed. Only realistic blood, prosthetic limbs, and actors were needed.
Japan, luring you in with cute anime, and Nintendo, then scaring you away with this.
I'm going to admit myself to a psychiatric ward now.
