This blog was inspired by Banman who posted a blog on Nintendo Franchises. I been know recently to post Eminem reviews but I want to talk about my first love video games.
Ever since I was young enough to pick up an controller, I been playing video games. I grew up with the Sega Genesis and N64. My whole family played the Zelda franchise even my parents. I remember how my dad played through Ocarina of Time for me when I was too young and horrible at video games to do it.
Now, I am a proud Zelda fan with some interesting takes on the franchise.
Number 5- Link to the Past
Link to the Past came out for the Snes. This game was one of the first Zelda games where the story was showcased. It had an interesting concept of both the light and dark world. The game was innovative for the Zelda series. This game introduces the seven sages and the plot mimics Ocarina but not as much to say the two stories are the same. It is a great game and I know it's on the virtual console for anyone interested. Nintendo released a Link Between Worlds which takes place in this same setting. I have not bought a 3DS but this game gives me a great reason to buy one.
4 Ocarina of Time
Many people may ask me why isn't Ocarina your favorite Zelda game. Don't get me wrong, Ocarina is a great game. It has gameplay, story, and worth being called the Greatest Zelda of all time. I found little to none replay value in this game. The game is very lengthy with difficult puzzles. This is a good thing but a second or even third go around is not enticing. After beating the game, there are a few side quests that are somewhat fun but the core of this game is the main story. Personally, I don't like playing the exact same story unless there is a catch. Some of my favorite Zelda scenes are in this game. Now, replay value wise I forgotten about Master quest which was a great remake of the game. Master quest threw even harder puzzles into an already difficult game. This became my second and probably last time playing through Ocarina.
3- The Legend of Zelda (NES)
What is more fun than an open world Zelda game? Well, you know there are two other games I think are, but what makes the original so good. First off, you are thrown into the game without a single clue. The whole point of this game is to explore and beat the dungeons that are hidden throughout your map. You are given little to no help by the game. There are tons of secrets in this game. Do not use the internet to play this game? The whole factor in this game is to play throughout the game and start your own adventure. There is the main objective of collecting triforce pieces; however, this task is long and difficult. It creates hours of fun gameplay. Any progress you make in this game makes you feel like you did it and not the game leading you to it. If you beat this game, you could replay it to find the hidden goodies or make a new file with the name Zelda. This triggers a second quest where the map changes and the weapons in the game switch to other dungeons. This creates a whole new world of adventure.
2 Majora's mask
Many people dismiss this game as weird and not a true Zelda game. That is why I love it. First off, the game isn't truly understand by anyone except the creators. People debate whether it's a dream or a second dimension. The second thing is there are many more side quests. Each side quest gives the player an award. The whole point of this game is to stop Termina from a falling Moon. You play a three day cycle which you could restart. There are only four temples but the game makes up with other fun things. Of course, I have to mention the masks. Have you ever wanted to play as a goron, zora, or deku scrub. Well, in this game, you play as all three. Each has his own move set and weaknesses. The game has many masks ranging from useful to creepy to useless. This is also the first game to feature Tingle. Who doesn't like Tingle? Well, apparently like a lot of people online, but I still like him. Also if you collect all the masks, you could unlock the Fierce Deity Mask which turns Link into an epic god (While he has magic or else his just taller and has a longer sword). This is a cool mask but you could only use it in dungeons and Sakon's hideout if you know the glitch. This game builds on the characters from Ocarina. It has several smaller stories in one big story. The sidequests give you an insider look of Termina. The whole game also has a repeated theme and message about courage which you should play the game to have your own take. It teaches us about faith, courage, and friendship in a way that is strange, fun, and different. This obviously deserves the number two spot. Now, what game is number one Supertimod?
1- Wind Waker
Yes, Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. The concept of adventuring is brought back in this game. You play as Link sailing with the King of Red Lions in post Ocarina of Time. The game gives off a great sense of achievement as you find new islands with hidden places and quests. There are mini games and a total of six or seven dungeons (matters what you count as dungeons). The game never takes you by the hand unless it is needed to continue the story. This game is hard to describe why it's so great. I know it is not everyone's idea of a good Zelda game so buy a copy of Wind Waker and try it. Nintendo released an HD version of this cartoony masterpiece. All the characters are so animated and actually are remember able. When you play this game, you feel like this is your journey. You control the winds and your destiny. Beating the Temples act like unlocking newer places because some hidden mysteries of the islands can only be unlocked by obtaining the new items. The Tingle Tuner in the original game was great and added a multiplayer aspect to the game. Recently, I found out that the Tingle Tuner could be used to get cool golden statues of Tingle. This got me hooked back into the game.
Honorable mentions
Spirit Tracks
Minish Cap
Twilight Princess
Skyward Sword
These are my opinions and should not be taken seriously. These are my views. I would love to hear your takes in the comments below. Remember to be open-minded and not to attack anyone because of race, creed, or preference of video games.
Majora's Mask is not one of my favorites because of the fact that you are timed and it rushes you. It takes away from the fun of getting to explore the land and leaves way for longer, more thought provoking puzzles. Also, the game is really freaky. I personally don't like some of the creepy parts of Zelda, like those undead creepy things that scream at you then jump on your back in Ocarina of time.
My favorites would be:
1) Ocarina of Time
2) Twilight Princess
3) Skyward Sword
4) Windwaker
5) Majora's Mask
6) All the top-down view Zelda games
Last) Zelda 2

You could use the inverse song of time (playing the song of time backwards). This slows down the time a lot. It makes it easy to finish any temple in the time limit.

I know, but still I don't like the timer because it makes me feel rushed.
My top... um... well, every one I've played, in order from worst personal experience to best:
11: Zelda II The Adventure Of Link
10: Four Swords [25th Aniversary Edition]
9/8: Oracle Of Ages/Seasons
7: Spirit Tracks
6: The Legend Of Zelda
5: Phantom Hourglass
4: Skyward Sword
3/2: A Link To The Past or A Link Between Worlds
1:Twilight Princess: This game creates a new romantic pair, which I find really cute. Also it was the most fun to play due to the huge variety of enemies and places to explore.
4. A Link Between Worlds
3. A Link to the Past
2. Wind Waker
1. Ocarina of Time (Ironic)

It's great. If you liked A Link to the Past then you'll love this. In general it's almost like a game just for fans because of all the hidden cameos from other Zelda games. The game is like The Legend of Zelda since you can do any dungeon at any time, after the first dungeon.

A Link between Worlds was good, but it was too similar to Link to the Past for me. Link to the Past is pretty good, but I think I played it too many times to really enjoy Link Between Worlds. Honestly, it was a waste of $40 to me, so I returned it after I beat it. It was too easy to complete 100%, the 50 level challenge was a joke, I beat it without using a single potion. When you have to pay for your own games, you actually have to find value in the game, and this game brought me very little unique value. I liked it though.
