It is 2014 and there have been a lot of surprises in world soccer this year, from Liga BBVA™ to the FIFA 2014 World cup, we have all seen surprises, here are some of them.

10.Italy Drops again
With Italy being a very fatal team, they fell at the first stride of the World Cup for the second time in a row, having being eliminated by minnows Slovakia in the 2010 World Cup. This year Italy won a game, but lost to an unexpected Costa Rica and a dangerous Uruguay. Will Italy fall again in 2018 or will they do what is expected of them?

9.A bad year for Brazil
Yes, the world cup was in Brazil, and without doubt they were favorites, but what went wrong this year? The hosts had a nightmare start against an ordinary Croatia in their opening game, with Marcelo copping an own goal in the 10th minute, the hosts did come back to win that game, but that's not all. In a competitive semi-final against Germany the hosts were slaughtered 7-1, with golden boy Neymar ruled out, Brazil were useless against the Germans who went on to win the cup. Not too good of a cup.

8. Surprise, Surprise!
Costa Rica, a team with mainly attacking players, but in a group with the dangerous Italy, England and Uruguay. We all knew Costa Rica weren't going pass the group stage, but we were all wrong. Yes, the Central Americans beat Italy and Uruguay and held England to a draw, they then went on to beat Greece in the round of 16 and were knocked out by a determined Holland in a dramatic penalty shoot out.
