Hey,
I've been contemplating putting this blog on here since it's been years since I've written anything on this website or was even active (Last post was 2012 lol) but I figured since this is a gaming website and I'm familiar with some people..why the hell not.
Aight so I've been working on a game for the past year called Tale of Mervian. It is a PC game although I can port it to mobile (I'm using Unity. Not fantastic I know but I'm familiar with it).
Basically the plot of the game is, you're a human who, after the first mission, ends up with a dragon, and with said dragon, you can either choose to destroy everything you come into contact with (bad ending) save, befriend everyone and restore the villages (good ending) or do a bit of both (neutral ending).
However, I'm not particularly a gamer. I tend to..make games instead.
So I need your opinions on what would make the game more attractive to you. What things should I fix, add or remove?
Please post constructive criticism/or good comments and not the dreaded "this game is trash" because..no.
Kay so lets finally begin with the pictures.
You start in a house, and this is said house.
This is the hallway.
This is the living room.
Dining room.
Bedroom. (Yes i know the perspective keeps changing, I hadn't made my mind up at the point)
Playing IN the living room looks like this:
(The character has changed because even I knew it was shabby)
And now outside, your village.
Here's the village before I put the roads in (and you can see the updated player model..and dragon)
Outside again with the roads this time.
Outside again, but something about this makes the park look not-so-appealing and I'm hoping you can figure out what it is (the fire in the bg is part of a cutscene).
As you saw earlier, I do have dragons. This would be the dragon that you own:
And the map I am REALLY struggling with is this one. A building called 'UNCLE' (an acronym that is written 'uncle' and is meant to confuse people)
Something about this map interior is really unattractive and I can't figure out what it is..
Anyway, I also have dialogue system in place.
Speaking to the receptionist. (yes im aware she looks dead inside)
And lastly part of the destroy-everything route:
Again I realise these are not fantastic. I'm doing this project completely on my own and I'm not really one to play games, I only make them, so I need an outside source to tell me what would make it look better.
It looks really nicely designed for someone doing this in their free time, as far as some of the stuff looking bad, a screenshot isn't enough, you'd have to publish a beta for actual testing (not necessarily everything, just aesthetics) if that makes sense.
